They're talking about turning it off until the banwave goes away. In case it's based on Wifi and data transfer during the banewave.

This is false. People who have never played either Fire Emblem or Pokémon have been banned. Thus it's reasonable to say it doesn't matter if you have played FE echoes or SuMo, because that's not what's causing bans.

Just went from A9LH to B9S just now. Went online for a few minutes before the changeover and everything seemed fine. Turned off a few things just in case. (N3DS)

Turning off WiFi unfortunately won't stop anything. As stated earlier in the thread, it's likely Nintendo has been collecting data long before this banwave occurred. We don't yet know what flags you, so your chances with WiFi off are no better than with it on.

The previous banwave was caused by users who connected to Nintendo's Online Services with the game before it's release, not the copy of the game that was used. You were fine running the Lurantis copy, as long as you did not connect to the online services before release.

It still doesn't hurt. We can't 100% guarantee that it's not based on current information and connectivity. As unlikely as it sounds it's still completely possible.

I installed a Star Sapphire (Alpha Sapphire ROM hack) .cia with the built-in Busty May mod. I don't think I ever went online with it. I have a legit cartridge of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Not banned

And my theory was debunked in less than a minute. Let me think of something else. I need an explanation for ninty's targeting system. I'm ocd-ing a bit about all this.

People who have done things that seem ban-worthy but have not been banned...have you spent money on the eshop? I am wondering if there's a monetary checkbox somewhere 'if person has spent blahblah amount do not ban' because they think you'll spend more so you're still a customer.

Can someone check how many downloads does FE Echoes have in eshop and in freeshop? I have a hunch that more people downloaded it from freeshop...

On this NNID? $8. Have yet to be hit. Spotpass defaults are still on and systems are currently in sleep, checking every 15 minutes.

You said it yourself "likely". We don't know if it's current data being sent upon connection or they're just slowly hitting a list with collected data because of human verification. Nontheless better safe than sorry.

I think the whole 3ds scene were negligent, if someone can use sniff tools to check what information Nintendo can get from our machine before. This banwave may can be avoided.
