I am on 5.1.0 and for some reason I am getting a system update prompt every time I launch a game or wake the system from sleep. As far as I know there is nothing newer than 5.1.0? So I don't know what it even is.

I have WiFi turned off so I figure it had something downloaded already and is prompting me to install it. Is there any way to remove that update or remove the prompt? Is this the 'supernag' I have seen mentioned? I am primarily using SX OS but it happens even in the original firmware, and it won't let me install it without reconnecting to WiFi, which I'm hesitant to do.

Thanks in advance.

Same for me. I searched everywhere someone talking about a new firmware update, didn't seem to find one.

I can't even format the sd card on the switch, I get the same prompt that I need to update the switch before using this sd card.

Edit: I tried all 3 of my sd card, two of them show the prompt and one don't, so it's certainly the sd card.
Now I don't know how to resolve this problem since even with a format on windows the prompt show again.

well, in my case, i did the update once. and then still persisted. so I formatted in switch and it fixed.
using OSX (macbook) to maintain cards? this happens mostly

I never used OSX.
So I tried slow format on windows didn't work either.
I updated the switch and after that the two faulty sd worked and I'm still in 5.1.0.

Maybe you should try going into normal Recovery mode (not the Tegra RCM that needs a jig). If that doesn't work, try Gag Order to remove the update prompt: https://gbatemp.net/threads/gag-order-a-fix-for-supernag.505765/

I tried Gag Order and it gives some error like 'ns not found, process may already be killed, proceed with caution'. Or something like that, I don't have it in front of me unfortunately. Is that normal?

i think its the exfat update for your sd card, just update, nothing bad will happen.

That's what I thought at first but I specifically bought a 128GB card in prep for SX and popped it in a couple weeks ago and did the update at that time. So I already have that update and confirmed my card is exFAT and is working.

I can try the update I guess. I assume I'll want to do it in the original OS and then remove my WiFi settings again?
