Hey everyone,

Like the title says, I was wondering if it would be possible to use the "Match Version with Local Users" option on our Backups in order to update them to the latest version. I am using SX OS myself.
I tried googling this but could not find another thread on it, so my apologies if it has been answered before.

Sure. Why wouldn't it work? The Switch treats it like any other card game.

Ah, that's cool! I should have clarified, though: would it involve the same ban risks as when updating through the eshop like some people are doing? Or no risks at all?

That's above my pay grade. However, one would think that it would be less risky.

Does it actually download from the other Switch? Or from Nintendo's server?

If it downloads from the other console, it should be safe, right?

Now I'm no expert, but if you need a second Switch to use that method, I don't see why we would have to get Nintendo involved.

It doesn't use Nintendo Servers why would it? it matches local version it's self explanatory. i know because i used both switches offline and it updates it by downloading from the other one. Most safest way to update if you want to prevent using it online with SX OS. Maybe i might buy a hosting servers so i can post GAME UPDATES on there for users. This might be helpful. :)

If you are gonna go the route for buying a server for other users, might as well go all out and make something like Wiimmfi.

Possibly for verification upon connection. :x
Kinda makes Nintendo sound like the overprotective parent when a girl invites her boyfriend over.

Well, they're pulling some of the more intricate logs. So, it wouldn't be surprising..

Sounds like a friendly deed, but how would that work exactly? Would we install the updates hosted there via the backup loader? Or via "match with local users"..?
