Hey everyone,

Sharing a homebrew project I've been working on for the Switch: MangaDex Reader.

A manga reader for Atmosphère/hbmenu built on MangaDex's public API, using Borealis for the native controller-driven UI. Fan project, not affiliated with MangaDex, Nintendo, or any publisher.

Features

  • Search, latest updates, and popular titles
  • Local library — favorites and reading progress, saved only on the SD card, no account or external sync
  • Reader with zoom/pan via the left stick
  • Language and content-rating filters
  • Configurable disk cache for pages/covers
  • Portuguese/English interface, follows system language
  • In-app update check and install

One thing worth noting: it only shows chapters actually hosted on MangaDex. When a chapter only exists as an external link to a licensed reader (like MangaPlus), it shows up grayed out instead of trying to open it — deliberate, not a bug.

Install: grab mangadex-reader.nro from the latest release and drop it in sdmc:/switch/mangadex-reader/, then launch from hbmenu.

Built with heavy use of Claude Code (Anthropic) as a coding partner throughout. MIT licensed, repo here: https://github.com/gomprime/mangadex-reader

Feedback and issues welcome.
