Just wondering if anyone knows what these "DS Store" files would be used for.

Firmware downloaded looks like this:

SD root files
SYSTEM (folder)
_DS_MSHL

Inside "SYSTEM" folder
m3sakura (folder)
._.DS_Store
.DS_Store
g6dsload.1
g6dsload.eng
g6dsload.gb
g6dsload.jp

Inside "m3sakura" folder
the two DS Store files appear again.

Any ideas what they might be. I'm slightly concerned they may be malicious files (i.e. threat to console..bricking, etc)

DS Store files are crap padding files... when you pack (or zip) files on a Macincrap it'll add those files for reference... you can just toss those files when unpacked.
