Now you have put the thought in my mind though I do expect hacking this thing to take off like hacking furbys all those years ago.

Why we need that, can't find the reason.

Sounds to me like you don’t know what you’re talking about tbh. Personally I don’t base my purchases on price vs hardware costs because I know there is a lot more involved in developing hardware than slapping them together like legos. They aren’t trying to sell a prebuilt PC.

It’s not for you. That’s fine. I just don’t really understand the “matter of fact” negativity.

We have had mainstream fishing controllers since... at least the dreamcast.

Things on game and watch style premade LCD screens go back even further.

Because there always has to be some sort of "evaluation" on the consumer side, whether conscious or not, about what we are getting for our money.

If such an incredibly outdated device requires that much research and development to put together and manufacture, that it would bump the price to $150 per unit, how would any other device that has far higher technical capabilities succeed?

While we are at it, why $150? Why not $500? Or $1000 for that matter?

It might be outdated, but after all, we don't know how hard making a piece of tech like this actually is. Right?

As I said before, I hope I'm wrong and I hope this thing not only exceeds expectations, but also becomes a massive success.

However so far, all the signs point to red flags. I would recommend taking it with a grain of salt, especially, at this price point.

in other words, they send you a 3d printed one it looks like (Why is this unit not completely plastic, why waste the extra money making it metal? Art piece got it...) Why should anyone be subject to pay 149 dollars when you should be able to buy the unit for cheap and the games for $12. Make it like a Japanese toy and have the user put everything together that would be a fun project and sell for cheaper. They're trying to offload crap all at once and thats what makes me mad. This smells as fishy as action 52...

Nevermind the fishing game and jack-in-the-box potential here. Think of the pencil sharpener simulators!

I would laugh at that but I did sharpen a pencil on my new lathe the other day.

Looks like we have our first hands-on footage of the device in action, courtesy of Kohichi Aoki:

The footage shows Keita Takahashi’s upcoming game "Crankin Presents Time Travel Adventures" which utilises the system's unique crank to move forwards and backwards in time. Looks like a neat concept!

    No disrespect to you Foxi4,

But this is literally trash and I'm surprised that anyone over 4 years old finds this entertaining..

    Quit lying, you're machining full-auto kits for ak-47s :D

It's certainly novel. The device is obviously for collectors of obscure hardware and software, it's interesting in that sense. It obviously doesn't match the quality or complexity of modern games, but that wasn't the point to begin with. It's like people eating caviar - it's disgusting as far as I'm concerned, but it's considered a delicacy.

    That's relative.

    Understandable.

That wasn't my issue with it, of course, my opinion is just that, and is relative.

Haven't tried it, but i would assume it would be comparable to sticking a handful of maggots in your mouth...

    this isn't fear factor people.

I mean, why waste the time cranking that when you could crank that soulja boy??

    yooooo... nope,

    i cant do it...
