Evening

My son has a Nintendo 2ds which he has had for approx 6 years.

When turning it on it says “cannot display the software on the SD card. The SD card could not be accessed.

Also every time he turns it on and selects A to start any game he gets the following error:

An error has occurred. Hold down the power button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again.

I have updated to the latest software but that doesn’t work either.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

I take it this a stock ds with OFW? If so it sounds like your SD card had enough of living after 6 years. Have you tried with a different sd card?

Very much possible. SDs tend to fail for no obvious reason sometimes.

@Rolandrat It could as well be "just" file system corruption. Maybe reformatting is enough. Try to backup the data on the SD and run the full test directly after formatting.
  1. Copy all your data from the SD to a computer. Reformat the SD to FAT32, 32kb cluster size, if bigger than 32GB and using Windows with guiformat.
  2. Check your SD Windows, Linux, OS X.
    • If you get any errors replace the SD.
    • If you get no errors copy your files back on the SD.
Keep backups of game saves. If you have custom firmware on the 2DS, use Checkpoint and/or JKSM for this task.

Good luck and have fun!
