try formatting your SD card in the 3ds then, thats the only thing that would really be causing it

i think someone else said they where only getting it to boot properly, say only1/10 boots would actually load up, the only thing i can suggest is first try formatting the SD card, and if your still having issues try a different SD card in the 3DS

Could be a corrupted launcher.dat file. Try running a checksum of the file on your SD card and compare to a newly downloaded clean version from the R4ids.cn site. I've never had 4.0B2 crash on me and I've booted the DS Profile exploit ~50 times in the past week.

I think the crashing is mostly down to SD issues, if your SD is ok there should be no issues, I'm not saying it's happening to everyone, but the only logical reason for it happening to some is a bad SD or bad launcher......it's pretty rare to get a bad launcher as it's zipped, if the download was bad it shouldn't unzip so you know it's bad before you even start

I was thinking corruption during the copy-over process to the SD. A lot of cheapo SD card USB readers like to corrupt data that they send to the card. It's best to double check the launcher.dat checksum just to be sure before trying other things. I'm thinking that this same issue could have been the cause of legit Gateway bricks a few months back.

I did as you said and formatted both my micro SD card and the SD card in my 3ds to FAT 32 i put the 1.64 wood kernal on my micro SD card and the Launcher.dat from firmware 4.0b2 on my 3ds sd card proceeded to do the set up via kernal but still nothing when using the ds profile what could be wrong?

Try 3.3 (again) or 4.0B1 to see if those still work.

You're using the right launcher, correct? Is the cart legit? Fake? Where'd you buy it from? How's the MicroSD cart, in terms of its legitimacy?
i got the r4 card from nds-card back in decemeber the SD card in the 3ds is a 1gb kingston and the micro SD card im using for the kernal is a 2gb (generic i think) while a 32gb sandisk is hold the 3ds games all files im using i got from the r4i site

It has to be either:

1) Your SD card. Try another one if you have one lying around, or if you have a microSD to SD adapter you can use with one of your microSD cards.
2) Your R4i Gold blue card is faulty and is not installing the exploit properly.
3) You or someone else accidentally updated the 3DS and quit halfway through, thus breaking the exploit's ability to load.
4) Something is wrong with your 3DS. The only way to test this would be to try your R4 cards on another FW 4.1 - 4.5 3DS.

See if you have the miiverse icon on your homescreen that way atleast you know for certain, btw updating won't fix it I think.the.updates.only update the parts that are a lower version than included in the.update, so it will just keep the newer system apps and update the firmware version number

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

nintendo needs to up their game soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
