Perhaps your USB ports are actually not USB2.0

Wrong...Since I have a old CPU (GAMING PC-Motherboard died) here is the stats

2USB Ports: 1.1

So I know it is the system usb ports that is slow...

Err.. How am I wrong? It doesn't matter if the reader is USB 2.0, the speed is from the port. So if you had a USB 2.0 card reader or hub, and a USB 1.1 port in your computer, the speed would still be a max of 1.1

Humm you are correct about that since my G CPU died I always wondered why the writing to the memory cards was slow LOL

Just got my flash cards for my pair of M3 Simplys. Play.com now doing the vanilla Scandisk 2GB micro for £13.49, but not to worried that I paid a little extra for the Premier.

I notice you don't have much A-Data.

I've got quite a few a-datas at home so i'll test some when I get home (all class 6)

Acutally I have two 4gb A-Data class 6 with me and I have an 8gb waiting for me at home

Using a shitty reader that came with my m3 simply (not really that shitty because it works perfectly):

A-Data 4GB MicroSDHC (Class 6)
Made in Korea
Random Access: 0.9ms
Average Burst: 15.9 MB/s
Average Read: 15.8 MB/s

A-Data 4GB MicroSDHC (Class 6)
doesnt say where it was made
Random Access: 1.0ms
Average Burst: 15.5 MB/s
Average Read: 15.2 MB/s
(possibly slower because this one is more full)

I'll do more testing with my desktop's multi card reader when I get home, though I'll have to use the microsd adapter that comes with the cards. And with emptier microsds

edit2 (with i-rocks media card reader):

Kingston 2GB MicroSD
Made in Japan
Random Access: 1.1ms
Average Burst: 19 MB/s
Average Read: 18.5 MB/s

A-Data 8GB MicroSDHC (just took it out of the packaging, newly formatted) (class 6)
Made in Korea
Random Access: 1.0ms
Average Burst: 15.4 MB/s
Average Read: 15.1 MB/s

Offtrack, tested this card again with about 4gb of stuff on in on the first reader in my post

A-Data 8GB MicroSDHC (just took it out of the packaging, newly formatted) (class 6)
Made in Korea
Random Access: 1.1ms
Average Burst: 15.1 MB/s
Average Read: 15 MB/s

Now back to scheduled testing

A-Data 4GB MicroSDHC (class 6)
unmarked from above (empty now)
Random Access: 1.2ms
Average Burst: 15ms
Average Read: 14.5ms

A-Data 4GB MicroSDHC (class 6)
Made in Korea
Random Access: 1.0ms
Average Burst: 15.1ms
Average Read: 15.1ms

Seems the ones made in japan are "best"
