PS1/2 UK Blu-ray in US PS3

So I want to buy two Blu-ray discs from amazon.co.uk (because the damn things have no release date in the US yet). They are Region ABC, so I know that the region encoding isn't a problem. The problem is whether they encoded at 50hz or 60hz. I've Googled the hell out of this and the most up to date info I can find is from over a year ago. Some people report that 50hz won't play in their PS3, some say it works fine, and all agree is a firmware issue.

Has anyone tried? Any info on this? If a disc is Region ABC, will it play in a US PS3 no matter what?

I say order one and see if it works.
PS3 is made to be region free, but wouldnt the 50 hz/60 hz have to do with the tv rather than the ps3?
because AFAIK, the model of ps3 they release for different territories is identical.

    @SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that

    I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
