They need to revamp rommenu more than anything. And they might as well merge that, the installer and the dumper all into one thing.

Agreed. I have 600gb of games on my HDD. Cycling through them one tile at a time is terrible. There needs to be more view options or like you said a dedicated launcher app as my rom menu takes 60+ seconds to even load and to be able to navigate through it

Can we finally dump UPDATES with this?

It's been like ages since they promised me that update.

You obviously don't know that we have been able to do this with TX installer for a few months now - right? You can dump installed games/dlc/updates with that. The app posted here was for dumping cartridges - but has now got installed nsp support added.

No it doesn't. I'm talking about installed updates and DLC for XCI games. It only shows me the Games I have installed from eShop, it won't dump my updates downloaded for my XCI games.

I think they just took some of the GUI from SX Installer (aka blawar's Tinfoil)
Looks nice though.

Indeed. Why is that built in installer still there? It sucks, it's buggy and corrupts games and they have a much better option now. The built in installer should just be the new one.

Doesn't what? "Doesn't" doesn't fit in with anything in the post you quoted. :P

If you have that many games maybe you should consider installing getting a bigger MicroSD and installing the ones you actually play onto that instead of relying on xcis. It might seem like more effort but eventually SX OS is gonna be phased out (we all know what happened with Gateway) and it'll be much easier to switch if you don't use xcis at that point.

I actually just upgraded to a 256gb card! That 600gb is just xci that doesn't include all my digital only .nsp's

Perhaps you should have specified that in your original post then - do you think GBAtemp members are mind readers?

I have a 200gb myself since they were way cheaper here, but I refused to use xcis (even though I have SX OS), since I used to use Gateway, and once they became outdated, it was a big task moving everything to cias, including the saves. The 200gb was filled up almost immediately, but there are a lot of games I'll never play that I only installed to try it out.
Anyway, your saves won't be affected by mixing to nsps, so I suggest you slowly move over to exclusively nsps so you can switch CFW at will.

It doesn't dump updates or DLC from internal or microSD card.

I have the latest, I have Torna Cartridge, I installed the update, I want to dump the update but it doesn't let me do it., Unless it only lets you do that when the cartridge is inserted, which would be stupid.

Dump your cart, convert to xci to nsp - then install - then you can extract the update.
Another way (not tested by me), create an nsp forwarder (and install) with the same id as your cart - then you should also be able to dump your update.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
