well, I got it working on my good ol' gbamp now, but the m3 simply still refuses to boot videos and instead stucks in the loading screen.

there should be no more patching/loading through extern loaders like the DSO/Chishm loader necessary...

Or did anyone get it working with a r4 / m3simply ?

Hihi

Having some problems with this

Encode with super 96K Mono MP3, but the video is posing a problem, gets increasingly out of sync then stops, even with 240k video and 12.5fps

any ideas what might be causing this?

Have they stopped development for this app? I mean, it's great it can finally make the DS play .AVI files. But it's GUI really needs to improve like perhaps include an option to choose which file to play and not only files specifically named as "tuna-vids.avi" which needs to be in the root folder...

i figured out the best method to
use videos with this.

encode the videos with SUPER
using 12fps and 22050k audio freq.

to choose a size, click the More
button until you get to where
you can enter your own resolution.
pick a resolution proportionate
to the video, while keeping multiples
of 2.

any bitrate below 384k runs ok.

a reasonable audio bitrate is 64k.

also, make sure to use xvid as video codec
and mp3 as audio codec.

12fps... isn't that a bit low? i think DPGs can handle 15fps and even up to 18fps (i think, although desynching is a problem with audio), which looks a bit more smoother.

i'll try this asap. it sucks that i have to convert movies into DPG (although it's awesome after i'm done converting, heh).

EDIT:
Tried it, loved it. except... when it's done, it's...done? no graceful exits? no going back to tuna-open or tuna-vids? maybe that's something the authors should consider doing next. but all in all, it does play .AVI, and that is pretty exciting.

We used to have a downloads section on GBAtemp but then it was migrated and turned into a new site called filetrip. Sadly the redirection got broken somewhere along the line so a lot of the old homebrew posts do not link there any more. It should all be available on filetrip though, in this case
http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/applications/download-tunavids-11-f12098.html
Likewise it should still be available from the author's homepage
http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/tuna-vids/index.html

I will edit the main post.

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
