Sorry to bother anyone that reads this but I was wondering if there was a way to figure out a specific title id for an installed game. But the games name doesnt show up and i have it on my system. I got the title.db and the ticket.db after i downloaded the game so I must have done something wrong. Any ideas on why I cant find it? Its a 3ds download only game so maybe that is the reason.

Edit: Yea ik i said use create.... Was typing fast and idk how to edit that. use isnt supposed to be there..

I don't exactly get the problem. You are looking for a game that you don't know what it's ID is?
If yes, what's the game?

If not, do you mean GroovyCIA doesn't show the names next to your title ID?

Sort your ticket in GroovyCIA by name. It should put all the titles without names behind each other. Then take a screenshot? Maybe we can narrow it down :)

Yeah that IS GroovyCIA. I think you are talking about not using FunkyCIA. You should see all your IDs when you double click on the .jar and open your ticket.db

This is what i have

Yes this is what I'm talking about.

Now click on the first column (name), it will list all those without names in behind each other. Then just take a screenshot of that screen

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

why no search for the title id here? http://www.3dsdb.com/
It's not going to be there. GroovyCIA has 3dsdb built into it. If it's there, the program would've read the name

Wow that's a lot.

2 questions:
- are most of the "system" names appearing for you?
- did you buy the game and downloaded legally or downloaded it from somewhere else?

All of the system apps are blank. And i purchased it legally
Ok that will narrow it down a lot.

First, in the groovycia release zip, there was another file besides the .jar called "database.xml" you should place that in the same place you have the jar file.

Once you do that, open the program again, and you will see many blanks with a name now. You can verify that by checking the system ones, they should mostly have names.

Once you verify that, assuming your game is still not there, do the same thing in last post: click on name and take a screenshot of blanks. The second info about legally purchased will come to play in the picture you'll put up :)

If you haven't found it on there yet, and you did buy it, then your game is either:
- The one that ends with 163100
- The one that ends with 182200

I can't narrow it more than that :)

Once you figure it out. Please let us know the name, ID, and region, so we can add it's name to the database :)

The 163100 has 2 and the 182200 has 3? does it matter what one i click and download and make into a cia and how should i test this?

It's a known issue with the program. The dev didn't fix the duplicate tickets yet.

As far as I know, no, it doesn't matter which one you click on. So let us know if you run into any problems :)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
