Hacking trying t update 3ds from 4.2 to 4.5

I have an r4 and a gw on the way. is there anyway to update the ds with a rom such as luigis mansion 2. I'm trying to find a r4 fw without the firmware spoofing, does this exist?

Yes, there is a way, i can't point you to the correct location as i have no clue where the information was. Still, all you need to do is find a game card that comes with the 4.5 firmware update

Aye but we havent got any. just wondering whether there is a r4i equivalent fw of gw 1.0 or any without fw spoofing.

Yeah just use a game rom with 4.5 update along with gw 1.0 but can't say anything about other carts. You said your gw is on the way so i'd say just wait till it arrives.

Sorry for my ignorance - but what is the benefit of upgrading from 4.2 to 4.5? I have currently 4.2 - and was told (on this forum) that there is no benefit ?

don't do it. two good reasons:

1- it's a waste of time, you gain nothing.

2- some DS flashcards don't work on 4.4 and 4.5.

There's no reason to update, but 1.0 Gateway or 1.0 r4i will let you update by using a rom.
