I am trying to modify a Lite and it didn't initially work. I soldered everything in place but it would only boot into the stock OS so I decided to remove all my work and start fresh. However, after desoldering everything I can't get the switch to boot any more. The battery is definitely charged and I definitely unplugged the battery while desoldering.

There are some signs of life - the 3v3 point gets power after I press the power button. However, there is zero screen or backlight activity. I also have been checking my access point to see if the console connects to WiFi (in case it is booting but the screen is dead) but it doesn't appear to be connecting.

The black spec in the second picture above the [FL] is just gunk - it's not damage to the trace. I wiped it off right after I took these pics

What troubleshooting/diagnostic steps would you recommend? Thank you!

The usual suspects are :
- broken/bent/mising pins on the lcd connector
- scratches near the shield after trying to remove the shield
- missing components near the shield.

There is a lot of information about points to check on this site :
https://www.retrosix.wiki/first-stage-boot-short-checks

But maybe it's not even your screen.
The Switch does check the battery during the boot sequence.
If you knock off one of 2 resistors near the shield then this communication line with the battery management breaks.
In that case the Switch just turns itself off again.

Allthe experts are in the picofly thread :

Please send detailed pictures lke the onesabove and details about what you have tried so far.
