Hacking Trauma Center : Under the Knife 2 ..

Not using cheats or soft-reset. Got the game from three different locations that supposedly work. Has the same problem using the Sakura and the actual M3 loader. Despite that, everything seems to end in failure.

First time you load it up, it seems to freeze during the making of the save file.

The only thing I can still think of is using someone else's save file so I can bypass the screen. Though that wouldn't solve what's causing the problem. Could formatting the SD card and try to start fresh perhaps do any good?

works fine on m3real if you're using 3.8x..don't think a format could solve anything
the memory card should never need a format to solve loading problems

SD Card just died while copying system files back onto it. Tried a different one and the game loads fine. I guess the dying cart was the source of the problem. Sad to see it go, but at least everything worked out in the end.

i just copied the nds rom to the sd card and played it using the triple boot sakura ...

M3Sakura NEEEeeeeeeeEEEDS regular re-formats if you add/remove files frequently. frags fuck Sak, plain and simple.

defragging a flashcard is generally thought of as a "no-no"...

copy. paste. re-format. paste.

Really tho, this guy has a Slot2/M3Lite problem, and EVERY Slot1 related post (including this one, maybe especially) is fucking SPAM.

what the heck are u talking about? I've been using m3 slot 1 for over 6 months and I've never format it even once, it came the way it was out of the packaging. if your games cant load, it's either a firmware or rom problem..it has nothing to do with fragment.

Anyway, yes, I have a slot 2 M3 adapter. First generation actually, sticks out of the cartridge slot by a mile on my old style NDS. I also cannot load Trauma Center 2 and just get the black screen. My girlfriend has a slot 1 M3 and I can always play on that but I'd like it to work on mine.

Anybody that is using a slot 1 device, unless you have any miraculous suggestions on how to get it to work on slot 2, please stop saying "works fine on my M3 slot 1 device".... because we know and don't care. Good for you.

Hope somebody can fix this soon.

wow... a bunch of games recently came out on DS and according to the M3wiki, a bunch of them have the same "Black screen on all setting" effect..

If i knew that this would happen, i sure as hell wouldnt have spent 100$ on this piece of plastic.. instead i wouldve gotten a cheap r4.. (BTW this was last xmas, I got it in a package with a SD Card, a USB gizmo and a passcard so i don't have to flash my bios) If they don't update the firmware and fix the problem it shows the lack of respect that company has for the people that spend their hard earned dollars on their "fine products"

The only reason i got a Slot-2 device was because i wanted to be able to play both NDS games and GBA without using an EZ Flash 3 in 1 card.. I didnt have any problems with my m3 before.. but i guess since Trauma Center 2, its going down the drain.

They didnt update the firmware since 2007...

Instead they just release a new product and hope people buy it? Not for me.. im never buying anything from these companies ever again.. next time i buy a flash kit it will be a Cyclo DS Evolution.. maybe its expensive but im pretty sure they won't stop supporting it after a year...

almost everyone uses slot-1 now
slot-2 users that still play NDS games off of theirs is rare today, I mean very rare

you should really get the best of both worlds
just get a slot-1 card and you can still keep your slot-2 and play gba games off of it without needed a ez 3-in-1 or ewin exp pack, ect...

its like buying a AGP gfx card, then complaining that the company doesnt release driver updates for it anymore, where pretty much everyone is using PCI-e now

In all likelihood. TC2 will get a Slot2 fix. Maybe not soon, but I'm sure all it needs a GameManager patch, not a firmware upgrade. Who knows if the FW will get updated again, but GMs get updates every few months.

If you get a M3Real... not saying you should, but if you did...

your M3Lite will work great as the GBA/RAM expansion pak... mine does.

I keep all the DS/GBA ROMs I'm playing on my M3Real's 4GB AData, and for a super retro fix... I have the M3Lite's 2GB Kingston filled with NeoDS & 50 NeoGeo ROMs.

edit: I have a lot of media on Slot1 too... since the Sakura hack came out.

People with problems with Trauma Center 2 on M3 slot-1s should also be helped here too..

Worked fine with my M3 Real with M3 Sakura 1.11 firmware.

Well I have modified a .dat file, that is took the legend of zelda one that was 513 bytes and turned it blank and changed the footer info, but it still wont load when used for this game.

I am still having the same problem though. Neither overwriting the saver, nor trying to read it while a saver was already created. Both for his fie and an empty file.

Under XP: fsutil file createnew FileName Size
Size is measured in kb.

Good luck, maybe someone else gets it to work.

EDIT: Oh yes, I did simply use .dat instead of .sav, I'm not sure if that's really much of an issue, but I don't know. Proper conversion could be necessary.
Simply replacing the file makes the Game Manager unable to find it.... I suppose that means the firmware itself isn't going to be better off.
The Game Manager would have to be able to create 512k saves.


After giving it a bit of thought, as it appears that the Game Manager is customly hacked to create a 513k file for Zelda, would it be possible to fool it into thinking that TC2 is Zelda? Maybe with just replacing the header or something? Would that work without breaking the game?

I don't think it would be easy to fully trick it into thinking trauma center is Zelda. I am still working on making this save method work.

I'm in the same situation, it doesn't work on my old style M3 either.

You can't expect a fix for problems like this so quickly.

You said that since Trauma Center 2 it's been going down the drain, which games exactly have you been having problems with since Trauma Center 2?

I haven't noticed any problems with other recent games.....
