Hacking Transfer saves from gateway card?

Sorry if this has been talked about already. I couldn't really find anything about it when I searched. I currently have 2 micro SD cards for my gateway. Basically what I'm wanting to know is. Can I back up the save of the game on my computer? My computer will not recognize the SD card after I put a 3ds rom on it. Is there a program i can get to read the SD card? Thanks for any help.

teh saves are stored on teh 3DS SD card, not the MicroSD

So they are stored on the SD card that goes on the side of the 3DS? I thought the saves were stored on the 3DS cartridge which it turn would be the micro SD card in my gateway.

In a retail cartridge, they are stored in EEPROM (on the cartridge), but the GW3DS transfers the saves to and from the 3DS' [big] SD card whenever you launch / press Home & close out.
