My top screen is brighter than the bottom one. The top one appears slightly more whiter, and the bottom one appears slightly more yellower.

Is this normal?
I wouldn't call it normal, but it's a quite common thing with ds-lites.
If I were you I would try exchanging it...

The yellow tint is common on DS Lites (less noticeable on phats). It's due to the type of touch screen film used on the console. Some Nintendo decided to use give the yellow tint, others don't.

I'd suggest trying to replace your DS. The screen looks much better without the yellow tint.

Finally upgrading to a lite when my R4 arrives. Is it true the yellow tint only occurs on some black DS lites and the white ones escaped its evil clutches?

Well i've just gone and exchanged it, and the difference is remarkable!

Nintendo should really notice these problems and not be using these tint films. My old DS lite was simply an inferior product.

Guy at the counter said he'd be returning it as a defect product rather than refurb.

*edit* spelling mistake

Mine's black too. I'm inclined to agree with Bluestar in that yellow screen complaints made on this forum were usually related to black DS's. Don't know if it affects white units though, and I suppose there's nothing to stop you asking to check the screens before leaving the store.

All DS Lite's can have this yellow tint, its not just the back ones.

Just as a note: mine was black

I'm not sure if the one that was replaced for me was from the same batch as my original machine... but the guy behind the counter double checked that the one he was giving me was perfect =]

lucky lucky!

There's a slight difference on my new DS lite. The top screen is brighter, but the bottom one isn't really yellow, just not as brilliant white. The people with 'perfect' DS's, are your top and bottom screens identical?

My DS Lite has "off" days where the screens will turn either pink or yellow for a day, and then go back to normal the next, making it very hard for me to use my warranty.
