So if I wanted to restore my SPI, where can I find the file for them?
You can find the .bin files in the folder where the program executable is found. They show up as right/left/pro

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So. I dumped the SPI of my Pro controller before changing the colors. Since I will be getting an aftermarket shell for my pro controller. So I changed all the colors, the program wrote them to the controller and everything is fine. If I reconnect it to the program, It shows as the colors changed, however, the switch doesn't reflect the color changes. It still shows up as a black controller with white buttons (The original coloring the pro controller had when first connected). Am I doing something wrong? Or does the switch not show the colors of different pro controllers? If the switch doesn't show the change, then why offer this feature at all?

@CTCaer I'm wondering if I can get some help with my two right Joy-Con (both firmware v3.91).

The controllers work normally in every respect except with this app. I can open the app and see the Joy-Con colors, but as soon as I try to do anything (backup SPI, change colors, etc), it throws a "device was disconnected" error in Windows 10. It happens on every version of the toolkit and with both controllers. This seems like the same issue brought up by Rinabow on page 40. Both of these Joy-Con worked when they were on v3.48.

Any ideas on what's happening?

Edit: I just tried my Pro controller and the app can't even see it despite it working on my computer. It's on the latest firmware as well, I'm guessing 3.91. So the only controllers that do work are the left Joy-Con.

I downgraded my right Joy-Con to v3.48 by writing to the EEPROM directly and it still doesn't work with the toolkit. I know this Joy-Con worked before on v3.48, so the issue must be my computer. I'll look into it more and post again when I come up with a solution.

Ok, so I got custom color grips to show up.

My guess, is if you leave the shell color stock, you can change the grip colors. Otherwise, it will default to whatever color you selected for the shell.
I restored the SPI chip from the backup that I made prior to doing any color changes or any changes at all. Now after restoring, I can't do anything in the program, it wont show color changes or anything, just stays the way it is no matter what I do. I have tested writing colors to it even though it wont show any color changes and it wont show up as colors changed even after re-syncing it. It shows stock on the switch as well. I might just return the controller and exchange it for a new one since mine is within 14-30 days of purchase. That will give me more time to get the Pikachu/Eevee shell ordered. I would like to get the grips showing the color change If at all possible. I tried it prior, but changed the body and buttons too, so it just showed up as all body color when pairing with the switch. Im on latest FWs so I saw you cant mess with body color, button color, etc. Thats why I restored colors from SPI dump and tried changing just the grips, but it wont show any changes in the program or the switch. So I think my best bet is to just go exchange my Pro controller.

I'm having trouble editing my Pro Controller. I used the toolkit with no issue for my Joy-cons, but the Pro Controller is getting a strange error when I try to edit the colors. It says "Could not load file or assembly 'jColor, Version=1.7.0.41433, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" or one of its discrepancies". Any idea what I need to do to fix this? Any help would be great

Is there a way to change the colors of the Power A Wireless GameCube controller using this tool as it appears on the console as a normal black pro controller?

Hi, I have used this to change colors before and it rocks, thank you for taking the time.
Now, I have a problem and was hoping this tool can help, I bought a couple PCBs to repair 2 right joycons and they work just fine, however I noticed only one of them can be connected at the same time, I suspect the switch thinks they are the same controller, so checked in the tool and they both say:
SN: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
MAC: ffffffffffffffffffff
Is there a way to edit the SPI dump and restore it so they are different?

Now that China has finally made the SL and SR buttons available, I want to change my Grey joycons to Mario Red. I only intend on altering their internal color after replacing the shell, keeping it as stock as possible. Is its original color tied to its MAC or serial number in any way? And is its firmware still upgradeable or will there be a risk of an update bricking my joycons because of the color mod?
