Even though I loved the UK, more specifically london for having an accessibility and diversity not seen in any other country in europe.
A few things have rankled me:
As described by knut:
The fact that you can't seamlessly travel from UK to the rest of Europe and back without a passport.

I know but england dominates the conversation and has the most people. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have to submit to the inadequate British gov because their population is too small to really make a substantial impact.

justification?
The physical country is beautiful, if often cold and wet, a lot of the people are ok, there's some nice food, stuff to do etc.

The government are right-wing shitheads who would rather let people die than use public money to help them, especially because they're busy stealing as much public money as they can to give to their rich mates.

Public transport is inadequate due to rail privatisation. Cost of living + heat waves must have hit your country hard. Even though the country is nice, it doesn't really compare to the landscapes of Switzerland or the history of Italy.
Not to be harsh, but a lot of Britain's history and essence were wiped out by the blitz, the collapse of the empire and subsequent globalization of the rest of the world. (read: Americanization) and so you get soulless places like milton keyes.
In consolation, British breakfast is probably the best breakfast, I love some baked beans on toast!
It's amazing how a little bit of research effort and quora on the internet can go a long way.

how come?
The UK is known as “Terf island” in the trans community because of the amount of laws influenced by terfs (trans exclusive radical feminists,) basically attempting to limit or remove more rights from trans people. Simply put, the UK sucks for anyone not cis

No it's not, no it doesn't, and you're stupid.

The UK travel changes are fairly recent and we're just coming to terms with them ourselves, but it's also subject to change again (not that it necessarily will). Any information you want, you should just research, instead of expecting people with their own agendas to say good or bad things without any proof... Because you know, you shouldn't actually believe anything anybody says on the internet at face value...

Though it's not always because of a hidden agenda, it's occasionally just lack of education/research or straight up narcisism and a compulsion to lie.

Just look for your answers somewhere that isn't a message board, yahoo answers or Quora.

Also public transport is fairly great in the UK generally. Long distance train journeys are usually not, and the closer you get to london, the more congestion issues you run into. This can even just be something you can extrapolate by reading service reviews of various public transport, stagecoach, metro etc.

Also to be clear, UK = England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Figured I'd make that distinction since your question and 'focus research' seems to be geared directly toward England
