Recently, I made a compulsive purchase of a Mig Switch from AliExpress. Just like a lot of people, I just can't get it to work. After struggling for hours it seems like TheStonedModder is the only one on the internet with some actual knowledge of this thing.

The main issue is that the switch will give the 'Game card could not be read' notification. I'm trying to get dumped ROMs from "n**2u" on it.

  • I'm using a MigSwitch 2 from AliExpress with a Philips 64GB microSD card formatted to exFAT.
  • I've used the updater, and that seems to be working fine.
  • I've tried the most recent updater 1.1.4 and 1.1.1
  • I've added the files, including all the .bin files with the exact same file name like you suggested
  • When entering the card, it briefly shows a green light, indicating a rom is found.
  • My Switch running 17.0.1
  • My Switch has been offline for 6 months
  • I've tried multiple different games

Here are some pictures of a game I've tested. Don't judge me for the type of game, it had a small file size haha.

Maybe I'm trying something that's not working, maybe I've made a dumb purchase. I don't know at this point, haha. If I'm missing something, let me know! Thanks so much in advance ✨

Wishing you all the best from The Netherlands!
The folder structure looks right, and if you’re seeing the green light that means that the MiG appears to be functioning. It’s possible that this game is a bad dump. I’ve had experience with something similar and redumping/redownloading fixed it.

They ignored me when I asked this which is kinda sus…

But if this isn’t a capacitive button (pls correct me if I’m wrong) what’s stopping the button from being pressed when the system is stored away and in sleep mode?

Some switch carry cases are a very tight fit, and could easily press on the cartridge slot cover enough to depress the button

You have to time it with the green light if there’s no button

Button needs a long press iirc (I don’t have one with a button and and not waiting on Mig-Switch.store again lmao)
I've done that and at times it does cycle and others it doesn't. That's what I meant by very inconsistent.

So with the MIG standard, you "forget" the launched game with an eject as soon as the light turns green. I wonder what the Mig X equivalent is.

Is this thing actually worth getting if I already have a modded switch? My main concern is hearing about others getting banned for using the mig without actual CFW but I have no clue if those are baseless rumors or lies xD Seems like a small piece of HW that would be cool to buy and collect.

The only people getting banned are the ones pirating games and mixing certs

Looks like the MIG 2.0s are back on AliExpress for the moment. Any interested parties should probably move on that sooner rather than later, as these tend to disappear after a day or so. Searching "mig switch" should show 7 or 8 different listings.

I want to so bad but I can’t justify another $85 for shits and gigs

Especially since I’m pretty sure these are going to have another major sleep mode bug…

Think about it, the button can be pressed for a game swap just by touching the plastic protective cover. It’s just a matter of time until you store your switch in a slightly tight case, or hold it the wrong way while walking with it. What’s stopping the v2 from ejecting and swapping the game forcing the switch to close the game in this scenario?

I'm hoping for some slightly different behavior with a game "loaded" like the V1 does now with the index file forcing a wipe before switching to another game. We'll find out tomorrow at mail time, I guess!

So someone on reddit pointed out that the DNS for migswitch.com and yuzu-emu.org point to the same thing. Nintendo stepped in?

Yes because both are behind the same proxy and protect service

okay i got banned lmao so i think using the mig while connected to wifi is fine but if you actually go online in a game its a ban

Nop is not, maybe your are using a non original copy of the files. Or the same set of files used by another user at the same time

UPDATE
Got my Mig Switch V2 working perfectly now. It was the SD card that was probably not fast enough. Also, that button feature on the V2 is great!

Can anyone with a v2 share shell photos ? I’d like to try and make this shell as close to a 1:1 recreation as possible
Hope this helps!

Got my V2 but constantly get the error that the game card could not be read. Going to troubleshoot a bit before posting my problem here

So I got my V2 today and I don't think the game switching in a case is going to be very likely. You have to really apply a point of pressure in a specific spot to activate the button with the flap closed. I might get better at doing it but there sure doesn't seem like a way for you to accidentally or unintentionally press the button. The MIG site makes it look WAY easier than it is in real life.
