Hi everyone,

I'm encountering an issue with my MIG Switch that I hope someone can help me with. The problem arises when I try to load more than one ROM onto my SD card. It works fine with a single ROM, but when I attempt to load multiple ROMs, I often get a message saying the cartridge is unrecognized, and I have to format the card.

I don't want to be limited to just one ROM on my SD card. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I'm currently using the latest firmware version 1.1.4.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Try another card and test the current sd card, format it using the instructions on:

I'm encountering a similar issue. Waiting on a different SD card to arrive by mail and will test it out and let people know.

Current facts:
  • Using the MIG Switch V2 from Ali
  • Switch FW 18.0.1
  • MIG FW: 1.1.4
  • Current SD card is a SanDisk Extreme Pro 512GB (from a reputable seller so no fake)
  • Games were downloaded from the Russian tracker dump
  • The problem appears only with certain games
    • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door --> works flawlessly
    • Zelda: Links Awakening --> Does not load / gives error message
    • Switch Sports --> works flawlessly
    • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker --> Does not load / gives error message
Steps I'm taking to pinpoint the issue:
  • Redownload the XCI from the Russian tracker dump --> maybe a bad download
  • Try a different SD card (Samsung)
  • Try a different FW version

In addition, I have the physical version of Mario Party Superstars. The local version on my device is 1.1.1 and the dump version is 1.0. I will try to use the dump the version and then run the update to see if I will get banned / can use the dumped version to play offline on my Switch. But first I want to figure out this "not recognized / read" issue

Hello.

I just ordered the migswitch, I have a few questions.

My nintendo switch firmware is 17.0.1, should I update to the latest firmware (18.1.0) before I start using the migswitch?

If I create an offline profile to play games with the migswitch only can I get banned?

I don't play online anymore but if I use my profile linked to nintendo to update the console can I get banned?

Thank you.

okay i got banned lmao so i think using the mig while connected to wifi is fine but if you actually go online in a game its a ban

Can I ask you was your switch only used on ofw? I mean you only used the flashcart nothing else it’s not been modded before? So I assume your switch is virtually useless now I’m assuming with no access to online features updating games, cloud saves, eshop etc.. sorry to hear this man

Edit: I’ve just noticed your picture it has a theme on the screen? So this must of been used via a modchip sometime? If this is the case the bans not necessarily down to the flashcart

You can update your console to the latest version if you want, it shouldn't affect the usage of MIG Switch on your console.

If you're about to use the publicly available dumps, especially the incomplete ones, there's a high chance you can get your console banned. Even if you stay offline while using MIG Switch, your activity will get logged and be sent to the Nintendo servers as soon as you connect to the Internet, assuming you aren't using 90DNS to block NIntendo servers. Even if you block Nintendo servers or stay offline forever, you're just delaying the inevitable.

Depends on what you'll be doing with your MIG Switch. If you'll backup your own games, you'll end up with full dumps that you'll put on your MIG Switch and you should be safe.
Using complete dumps you've found on the Internet is risky because, if there are at least two same certificates being used at the same time, you'll 100% get banned. Whether staying offline or not during that time is safe, I'm not sure.
Using incomplete dumps (i.e. without certificates or with the ones borrowed from another game) might get you banned as well but, again, I can't say for sure.

Even if your console is banned, you'll still be able to download firmware updates. Your access to eShop will be restricted, however, therefore making it a bit more difficult for you to update your games should you need to do so. However, if you have another Switch with the same game but with the newer update, you can update the game on the banned console locally with that other Switch. You won't get the other Switch banned for that.

I can understand Nintendo wanting to ban online gameplay if they suspect that you could be cheating with game mods and such. But why would Nintendo want to ban someone from the eShop? That would just push someone into going the piracy route. Especially if that is their only way to get DLC and game updates. Really stupid on Nintendo’s part. You’d think they would want your money by at least giving you access to eShop. 🤷‍♂️

because if they ban you from the shop YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER CONSOLE, is a business.

One thing I'm quickly noticing is that dumping using the Dumper produces XCI files much smaller than the same file on public trackers. I wonder if the homebrew method of dumping XCIs is keeping redundant information.

is there any way to dump everything needed to avoid being banned using a modded switch? I have modded switch i used to dump my carts, but im not sure how to get all the certs i need as well

I bought a new Samsung micro SD card at the home appliance store yesterday and everything works great! The problem was with the micro SD card.
