If I had a slower printer I could get it more clear

If you like the model, please consider downloading it once(and sharing the link) since makerworld rewards creators with free filament for model downloads. I used about 2 rolls narrowing this design down aha

There’s nothing in it. It’s to “gauge interest” and have people reply to

Just like all the tweets they put out this week…doesn’t make sense to me but it’s not my life
They are full of shit! they said nothing! There is no pay-pal.. so how are they going to take the orders! ??? there has not been 1 beta tester yet say it works, nothing @ all from any beta testers!

Unlockswitch just announced no paypal, payments only in usdt and such. Yikes. zero chance I'm going to trust an anonymous twitter account with a money transfer that gives me no ability to do a dispute/chargeback.
This is sounding more like a money scam!!! No pay-pal who is going to send them money direct!

Paypal sucks just because someone doesnt use them, doesnt mean anything

I know multiple people who used paypal for their business and woke up to their accounts frozen with some vague TOS message. All of the money stuck with nothing you can do

That being said, you are also right. Unlockswitch have not shared much(besides when they offered to help me with my shell design)

IDK Where you are getting just bank transfer from

There are other ways to conduct transactions..im sure they will accept cards that is trivial nowadays to do

You're right, it is trivial to support credit cards. But Unlockswitch explicitly says no credit cards. only usdt and btc. go check their twitter

During our live session on Twitter a few minutes ago, two questions came up frequently:

1. What are the shipping fees?
2. What payment methods will be available?

We’re answering both in this post. We will offer two shipping options for our products:
• Airmail shipping worldwide from China for $7 with online tracking
• DHL shipping for $25 worldwide on orders of 5 to 10 pieces (UnlockSwitch PBS and Xtractor only )

Regarding payment, we will only be accepting cryptocurrency (USDT, BTC, etc.) at launch.

Why this choice?

While our product isn’t illegal, it falls into the gray market category. In the past with other competitors ,customers had to go through resellers or distributors to pay with credit cards like Visa and Mastercard. However, we’ve chosen to handle everything ourselves for the launch. This way, we can avoid issues with pre-orders, unrealistic delivery times, price hikes, and, most importantly, prevent disappointing our customers.

In the future, we might consider working with external logistics providers, resellers, or distributors, but that won’t be the case for the UnlockSwitch project launch.

As I think someone else mentioned in the thread in the last day, they also have said they are doubling the initial run from 10,000 to 20,000, so essentially half a million dollars potentially being transferred to their crypto wallets, with no independent proof of a functioning product. Well, it's been a fun 6 month journey but I think this is my stop.

I’m seeing the crypto only post now

If I can find a reliable way to get crypto without having to submit a thousand different forms of ID I will be a guinea pig

They just sent a whole new tweet saying they will explore CC options on Monday
Yeah, saw that. That’s progress at least. They were originally pushing back on complaints about crypto only, so we’ll see what they end up doing. I’ll just pass if there’s zero buyer protection.

Lollllll after months of teasing a release the first actual substantial information they give just makes it look even more like a scam. Nobody outside of this operation has a working product, they’re using the pricing to get people to ignore the red flags.

Besides the lack of chargeback, I think other reasons for them choosing crypto only could be to make it harder for the authorities to track them down along with avoiding the tax man and crypto accounts being harder (assuming theirs is self-custody/hardware) to seize than a bank account.

Regardless of their reasons, going crypto only is just going to tank demand for their product. Unless their product is infinitely superior to the competition, buying any other MIG on ali is going to be a far more attractive option than going through hoops to learn about crypto, go through setting up an account, etc......to just buy a damn mig. They ought to remember that a substantial number of their potential client base are just teens with nothing more than a debit card.

Yea good luck to anyone that orders, the mig has been as low as $50 via AliExpress with coupons. Not really worth the risk here against a product you can have to your door in 9-12 days.
