how does Preloader work?
If u remove ios30 or ios60, I know the systemmenu will not be able to load, but will Preloader work anyway? does it need an IOS to boot itself?
Remove IOS30 on 3.2 or remove IOS60 on 4.0, you get a massive brick. Yep, Neither Preloader or System Menu will work.

I hacked and upgraded a friend's LU64 wii yesterday to 4.0U. I tried to install preloader, but I got an error message. (I think it was the "failed to get root, fakesign fixed ios 36" one, but I'm not sure.)

I'm afraid to try and fix it because it may brick his wii. Can anyone recommend what to do?

thanks for all your help in advance and this question may be stupid but i'd feel a lot stupider if i brick'd my wii...

how do i upgrade from v27 to v29 of preloader properly? i tried using the online update and get a page not found error please insert coin.

If anything, I won't suggest installing Preloader on LU64s. To be true, I don't know much about LU64, so I think it's better you ask some other elitists

Just follow the guide, it will over-install the old Preloader, as in, it removes the old preloader and installs the new one.

I installed Preloader on my downgraded 3.2 Wii and now Sometimes when I go to the wii menu it has the data corrupt error, but then I turn off my Wii and go back to the menu and it works.
Anyone know what the problem is?

Take your SD card out of the slot. (I'm assuming you're talking about BootMii).

somewhere in the preloader menu (settings maybe) there is some option called autoboot. Set it to system menu.
Also make sure the reset button isn't blocked

what do you mean by reset button being blocked? is that a setting in preloader? sorry

go into the settings and put autoboot to systemmenu

the reason I said the reset thingy is because there was a guy here once who had dropped his wii and the reset button got stuck in (the wii registering it as pressed). That caused to load preloader every time, even if the settings are correct. This shouldn't be your problem

Yea, if you followed the guide correctly, there's a step on how-to autoboot. Please don't disappoint me, especially since I just woke up and having a headache

.

Ive had preloader for a while and im wondering what the "Return To" Setting is for. Its set to preloader and im wondering what it does.

can i remove preloader by deleting 0000007X.APP and renaming the 100007X.APP to 0000007X.APP?

I find having to reinstall a whole systemmenu wad to get rid of preloader being unnecessary if all I had to do was replace one file with the original.
Has anybody done this b4 and did it work?

I'd try myself if i had a vulnerable boot1, but sadly, I do not.

I installed preloader 0.29 on my 3.2u wii and had it autobooting to usbloader. Everything was working fine.
I then decided to follow the upgrade guide on this site to upgrade to 4.0u so I could use SDHC cards.
Now the Wii boots into the wii system menu and holding reset while turning the wii on will not take me to the preloader screen.

Do I need to reinstall preloader?

The worst thing about this whole mess is that the SDHC card I have (Kingston 4gb/class4) is not recognized by any homebrew (including HBC)

My 256mb SD card still works with homebrew though.

Since you installed a new system menu (4.0u), preloader has been deleted. Just reinstall it using your 256mb SD.

Guys, I've an interesting news to tell you. It prolly won't be any of interest to you but it is to me

. So...... here's my wishlist for this guide:

1)Add accessories guide and etc for Preloader (Wii Home, Crazy Intro)
2)Massive updating
3)Lesser steps by the use of an app
4)Pictures

(20% chance that it will happen though
