Firstly, Great tutorial. Helpful to all.

So on to my problem. i have upgraded to 4.0U and everything works well but I am having trouble with the hacks.ini file.

One of two things happen when i try and change the systemmenu hacks.
1. i get an error screen saying "hacks for your systemmenu(v417) were foundNO"
2. it will show only one hack, [Skip disc update check]

I have changed the ini file several times to the 4.0U (and i tried the 4.0E) and i tried reinstalling preloader with the full hacks.ini in the same folder and in the root.

any ideas? i really liked not having to see that health screen...

Hi afif95,

1) You mentioned in the guide that to look out for "Force Disc Region" and "Disc Area Check". Do you mind explaining what do they do? And why do you mention to be careful with it?

2) Could you explain what is IOS Reloading and Move disc channel too?

3) If i have preloader, I can still install bootmii right?

Thanks for answering and helping!

1)Because, having "Force Disc Region" enabled might render all your games show in Black and white (Unless you have a TV that supports both PAL and NTSC, like me
tongue.gif
). Have them both and regions will get mixed up and un-enabling your games to be played.

2)IOS Reloading. It was explained in this thread but I guess I'll just say what it do. Games like Sam and Max (Which reboots your Wii) will reload its IOS. with the hack, you force the game to reload the cIOS not the IOS, thus, enabling you to play that game, dig?

Move disc channel. Without this hack, you can't move your disc channel, unlike other channels. This hack enabled, you can move your disc channel anywhere.

3)Yep.

I'm just about to install preloader. after updating to 4.0 and cios corp.

what hacks do i need to install.
and why are there more than one hack for the same thing?

Cheers,

I needs to know your region, firmware, etc. For the latest version (0.29), one set of code for one hack should be enough, so just choose one.

Weird. Possibly it's a problem with the hacks.ini. Check that it's right for your region and scan the insides of the hacks.ini using Notepad. Make sure each of the hacks is made for version 417 (You can tell by the "version" offset in the hacks.ini)

Sorry but now i get an error saying "Couldn't find "hacks.ini" neither on FAT nor on NAND!"

Did i do something wrong here?
I'm having the same problem as this guy. I don't think I found a solution either.

I'm running 3.2U. Made a hacks.ini file using the exe method mentioned on the first page. I have the file in the root of the sd card and the preloader folder in my apps. I would love to get this install before I upgrade to 4.0, but this is what's stopping me currently. Any help?

so i examined the .ini and scanned and all are for 417

i first used the one that comes in the package, then loaded the one from the wiki. it will recognize the one from the preloader package but not from the wiki.

i did an exact copy and paste

so i tried something else and still nothing. i pasted the wiki code inbetween the codes of the package .ini and still nothing.

Make sure the file is named "hacks.ini" and not any other kind of name. In notepad, once you save it as hacks.ini, the file will be a notepad file with a gear image on it. It will be named "hacks" and not "hacks.ini". Just don't rename the file and put it in the ROOT of your SD Card.

If all that fails, use the 4.0 method of getting the hacks.ini. On that Wiibrew page, there's a code list for 3.2, check that out

Travel into the file, make sure that there's no added text or not enough text.

And make sure the file is named "hacks.ini" in the "Save as" dialog in the Notepad program and put that into the root of SD Card

So are you saying that the file needs to be called "hacks" and not have the ".ini" at the end? Cause after I made the file, I renamed it to "hacks.ini" cause I thought it was like the .dol files that needed the ".dol" at the end. I'll try that later today than.

No, that's not what I meant. If you save the file as "hacks.ini" through notepad, the end-file might or might not have the .ini extension. Regardless, stop messing with that file and put it into the root of your SD Card.

It's cool. I got it to work. Thank you for the help. Now I'm updating my system to 4.0 with some slight problems posted in the Ultimate 4.0 thread...

I am using an exact copy and paste from the wiki. "hacks.ini"

the only thing that i am not sure of is if their should be an empty line at the end of the file. using gedit there is one, but in office there isn't...

Nope, not hacks Remover. Preloader 0.29 stores hacks in a different directory. If you check the FAQ, there's a guide on how-to. However, I'll create a section on how-to uninstall soon. It's on my to-do list

Ah ok
I have preloader 0.28 so thats how I would do it, I didn't know it was different for 0.29

Quick question. I installed preloader when I was on 3.2U. I want to update it to the 4.0 version I'm on now. Can I just install the new version or would I have to delete the old version first? It's probably a stupid question, but rather be safe than sorry.

Just install. Preloader is installed into the System Menu, so when you upgrade or downgrade, preloader's gone. Dig?

really..?? the hacks.ini aren't on Shared2 anymore..?? then where are they now...??

Kind of forgot, but one thing I'm sure, it's not in the where it used to be (Shared 2). So people with preloader 0.29 will try to use Hacks Remover but alas, it won't work. Then a dude developed an app called NANDClean which is able to delete the hacks.ini which is stored in a different directory.

Check the FAQs and click on the link that has the name "NANDclean" on it.

how does Preloader work?
If u remove ios30 or ios60, I know the systemmenu will not be able to load, but will Preloader work anyway? does it need an IOS to boot itself?
