:V Seeing as this is the noob Q&A thread and I am very much a noob, may I ask a question?
I'm currently using OoT3Dhax on an old 3ds (9.9.0-26E) and I can't get on the eshop via the homebrew menu since it just prompts me to update once it connects to the internet.
I'm kinda assuming that updating would render OoTHax moot and I wouldn't be able to use it? But I'm just assuming, basically.
So what I want to know is:
Would OoTHax become useless if I update my system, and if so, are there any workarounds for the eshop on my current system?
thanks for your time sorry if this is a dumb question

There is currently no way to access the eshop on 9.9.0. What did you use to install OOThax? The method for updating is different if you used Powersaves or another hax.

I used menuhax to install OOThax, but I do have a powersaves. It was just that at the time I couldn't find any saves that would work with the european cart so I used menuhax instead.

Menuhax is also a standalone hax. What did you use to install that? Unless you mean Browserhax. And can't you just use Menuhax to access the homebrew launcher and update your OOThax payload?

I know that I originally used browserhax to install menuhax, and then that to install oothax. Oothax currently does work, but that's because I haven't updated yet and am still on 9.9.0.
I'm pretty sure that menuhax wouldn't work were I to update? Or am I wrong??

No you're completely right about that. Menuhax doesn't work past 10.1. Just go to the homebrew launcher from either Menuhax or OOThax, and use the installer to update the payload. Then, you can update. Just make sure you have the right payload first.

Ah so, could I use OOThax to boot into homebrew, and then essentially re-install OOThax from there, except specifying the firmware as the most recent, rather than my current one? And then close homebrew and update?
man this is getting a little confusing lmao

Yes, just double check what firmware you are installing the payload for. Hope this helped! I'm working on adding this to the main post.

Thank you!! I'll tell you if it worked, I guess. So you can add any "dont do this dumb thing" tips so people can learn from my mistakes if I mess up :V

Another question, how can I get a homebrew to display a 3D model?
You mean making a homebrew to do that? I'm not really sure tbh. I just started learning C a couple months ago, so I don't really know how to do that. I recommend asking a more skilled developer. Sorry about that. :(

I mean like how portal-3ds does it.
I figured it out though. I had to convert it to .md2 and lower the amount of vertices.

uH so I spent a while making a custom theme to replace my old one before I updated (in case I messed up and couldn't boot homebrew anymore to make a new one)? And so only now am I updating.
I went on into homebrew and updated the OOT payload to 10.3.0-28E, and went to update my system.
But?? After it gives the "connecting to the internet" box it comes up with an error that reads:
An error has occured.
Unable to update.
The system will now be restarted.

I've tried 3 times already and I am wondering if I've possibly done something wrong?? :/
That said, earlier today I tried to go on the eshop on my sister's completely clean and up-to-date (old) 3ds and it threw an error at me so it may be a false alarm? man this is doing wonders for my nervousness haha..

You added the theme using the Menuhax Installer right? Otherwise, you just loss access to Menuhax. Hopefully you can update soon.

Ah!! sorry i was just in the middle of editing my post to say I've figured out what it was.
I was getting to the internet via a manually inputted DNS for some reason or another, which was stopping it from updating for some reason.
It's updating (veeeery slowly) as we speak! Thanks for the help, anyway.

quick edit before i post: yep it's working!! yeeeaaaa!!
