Any chance you could be convinced to pick up the torch again, Rayder? Would it not be enough if you were to put a note in the credits.txt file basically saying, "If you see an uncredited cheat in this collection that you've created, please drop me an email and I'll make sure to add it"?

You're compiling the cheats for yourself, and just happen to be sharing it with us in this forum. It's not like you're taking the credit for the hacks yourself, distributing it all over the 'net, or doing anything more illegal than the R4 team when they compile their database.

Not that the hackers don't deserve the credit for their work, but it seems a lot of legwork for something nobody besides the hackers are even going to look at.

It would have to be some kind of text base, and people would have to stick to that very strictly.

It's called a pastebin, I was tempted to make an online application that would automatically append xml/whatever format we decide to the R4 .dat but I didn't feel like coding in php.

I'm considering going back to a public dat. We already have approval from the hackers for the codes. I just hope credits in the txt file is good enough this time. It would take WAAAYYY too long to add them all to the dat itself and it would eat up a lot of extra space unnecessarily.

I figure why not go back to making it public....but only here at GBAtemp. I've been updating mine as often as I always have anyway and I really hate depriving people of it.....especially in light of Grimalkin being unable (or unwilling) to continue it. Besides, I could use help trimming out the codes that don't work since I don't really use them in the first place. The file needs to be trimmed in size.

I never meant to offend the hackers by not having credits. It was just an oversight. Please let the txt file be good enough as far as credits are concerned.
