I kind of thought they were both knocking off the Sin City comics/movie. Frank Miller was probably stealing from something else too.

Platinum Games got the look from Sin City, they admitted that a while ago. Miller got the look from older comics.

I hated that movie, I really tried to watch but couldn't get into it at all.
It's hard to make thing out of the black and white animation. My eyes ;_;.

At least in the game (which I LOVE!!) you get to do something.
