I had to look up the release date. It's 5/24, so I imagine many eyes have already beheld the film's magnificence.

If they took out the laziness, then Chris Pratt's portrayal in the trailers makes more sense.

I think Garfield's laziness and cynicism have a certain appeal. He's not lifeless or heartless, but he does lack a certain motivation, which would have been a great character arc on its own. He doesn't even have to be drastically different, but he can be more appreciative while still being comedically annoyed by everything.

The cartoon special where Odie goes to the pound to be executed (not exaggerating) is a good example.

Seriously I haven't seen it, but even the trailers gave me the impression that it wouldn't win anyone over on originality or execution.

I know I said this a few posts ago, but why aren't we putting more effort into our adaptations? Some of these properties have been around for decades and have plenty of source material to work with. We could adapt an existing story, which means half the work is already completed. We have access to passionate fanbases, which would help maintain quality and continuity. The rift between consumer and company seem farther apart than ever before.

We must ask ourselves, "what would Garfield do?" That's right, he wouldn't care. I'm going to go nap, eat some lasagna, and inconvenience my housemates.

Watched it tonight with my granddaughter. She's 6 and asked if we could watch something else under half way through. I couldn't have been happier because it was all pretty dull. Put on Return to Oz (1985) which she had never seen before and she absolutely loved it.

I never saw the CG Bill Murray films. I would have grouped them along with this new one, but I'd like to hear some reviews. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some kind of strange 2000's charm to them.

If you meant those TV specials, I have fond memories of those. I only ever saw two: The Thanksgiving (or was it Christmas) on the farm, and the one where Garfield goes to the pound to rescue Oddie.

That musical number in the pound didn't scar me like any of the Very Special episodes of the day. Even now, I find myself so amused and bewildered by it. Like, someone wrote that for a kids cartoon, and it got greenlit all the way through.
