I still say it now and then.

I could've suggested "iterations"...meh, I'll just mention I was tired.

Reads a bit like an Acekard advert to me at least.

Also "100% compatibility most of the time" directly says it's not 100% compatibility... it's a bit like saying you've been slightly murdered - it's either 100% or it's not.

Great FAQ!
But would you mind adding a reference to Bunjalloo under the internet section? It can view picures and generally runs better than DSO's one, IMO.

Yah I'll add that as well.

Uh well a lot of people would agree with me when I say the Acekard is the best right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Acekard fanboy (I only have an M3i Zero).

As for the 100% compatibility thing, it's because they need to have time to update for the latest games (and the updates come pretty fast) and other than that it's 100%

thats a really nice faq

i would just let off on the acekard is best thing, you know ... someone might buy an acekard as their first cart and then not be happy with it (like me, after that i bought a m3i0) ... i mean ... you can recommend it ... but im just saying ... i think you have done a bit too much

also, this is a nice thread to recommend to friends who are getting their first flashcart ... perhaps you could add a section about what a total noob who doesnt know what a flashcart is can read ... like what it is, where to buy, etc

i vote for sticky

Thanks for adding it.. but it doesn't actually require (or use at all) a slot-2 cart

Sorry to be so annoying, but I really do think that too many people are overlooking it.

I have a heap of flashcarts (including but not limited to Acekard 2i, R4 (original), Supercard CF, Lite, DSONEi, EZ flash 3-in-1) and not one of them strikes me as "zOMG!!!11eleven - this is the best eva". Ongoing support is important to consider too - starting back with the Supercard CF (still supported and still working - just looks ridiculous sticking out of a DSLite).

Acekard is regarded as the best currently because of AKAIO, it would still be hard to ignore SuperCard products for the sheer longevity of the team and their willingness to support frankly antique hardware even now. Sure Acekard is cheaper to buy, but I could have not bought a new flashcart since the SC-Lite and still been happily working... if I have to replace my Acekard twice in that time it's not so compelling.

Now my post reads like a Supercard fanboy (I have so many because they've been going for so long)

Again, not unique to Acekard - there are almost daily updates to SuperCards if you care to look for them in the "official" SC forums.

The FAQ (IMO) should not concentrate on one product line - if/when Normmatt drops updates for AKAIO, the Acekard will slowly turn into the R4 (a semi-useless wedge of plastic until someone else takes up the baton of the user-created card OS - like Wood R4)

I'm not saying it's the best one out there. Supercard is a nice flashcart, it's just the Acekard is the best flashcart for people who just want to play.

That may change for various reasons (AKAIO being stopped, DSTwo coming out, etc.), and there are some people who prefer the M3/Supercard/Cyclo over the Acekard. But if you look at how fast the acekard is (a lot of the time they're the first ones to get a fix) and how many different features it has you'd see what I meant (and yah the cheapness does play into why it's so popular).

I'm going to go back through the FAQ and make sure I'm not coming off too strong on the Acekard buying, but I also linked to my The "Which Flashcart To Buy" Info Thread which has a lot more information on which cart is best for you.

Q: With Wood R4 out, is it a wise idea to buy an R4?
A: No, Wood R4 is more for all the people who have R4s right now. R4s still don't support SDHC, nor do they work on DSi's.
Correction:
Yes, if you don't need SDHC or DSi support. It's only 6 dollars for 100% compatibility, great build quality, Wii connectivity and soon-to-be open source firmware.

There's still better flashcarts out there.

At the moment some people support the R4, and a lot of other people hate it to death.

Why doesn't Yasu want people to distribute a precompiled YSmenu?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with him not wanting people to take credit for his work.
Seems a little paranoid then. I am pretty sure by now everyone knows what YSmenu looks like and who made it, so I am not sure why he still needs to be so pissy about it

A lot of people who make their own creations like that get pissy when credit is stolen even once.

You'd understand if you made a popular, fully functioning, rom loading firmware like that.

Well it's made so he doesn't need to update it, the dstt guys do it all for him.

Why bother? No one truly knows enough about the Supercard DS TWO to say anything. All these people talking about perfect GBA and stuff, really, we have zero proof of anything, it might turn out crap. I mean it's unlikely, but not really suitable for a FAQ if you aren't sure.
Deltaburnt asked me to bump his thread so i did. I didnt know what to post...
