Heyo. Getting caught up with life and about to boot up my 3DS and Wii U for the first time in almost a year. I'm working on getting my 3DS ready to go again and am reading up on Wii U stuff while waiting for an install.

Quick question: I saw in the guides I glanced at that the latest OFW is hackable. Should I go ahead and plug my Wii U in for the first time in a year and get it updated before proceeding, or are there additional benefits that come from an older OFW version?

Nope, go ahead and update, then reenable your update blocking method

Probably a question that is totally random but is there a way to unban yourself from a 2 week or permanent ban on Miiverse ?

Guide:

Don't use miiverse.

I haven't caught up with the scene, is USB loading now possible and stable? Do we also get free DLCs now? Is there a way to dump discs directly to the Wii U USB like multiman?

Sorry for the noob post.

Speaking of DLC I'd also like to know if there is a way to permanently get free DLC without having to constantly open the web browser on the Wii U.

An unban itself is impossible.
Now a 3DS-esque thing where you change your serial number and make a new one? Well, maybe, but we'd have to use IOSU and find the file NWPlayer was referring to in this old post.
The answer is, yes, you can change your serial number but only once you can access the NAND filesystem which probably requires full IOSU kernel permissions, there is a system config XML on there defining it all.
If anyone can do that, and it doesn't have a signature that needs patching, we'll be good to go there. Until then, I suppose...

I remember someone trying to edit that part of the xml on rednand and bricked
[EDIT] As you can see, your sys_prod.xml, contain your console serial id too. Maybe this can lead to a way to unban peoples (i forgot to mention this). Dunno if just an edited serial can do the trick or not (or if it has no link with the ban method from Nintendo)

:!: Brick warning :!:
=> DONT EDIT YOUR CONSOLE SERIAL OR YOU WILL BRICK (REDNAND & SYSNAND)
=> DONT EDIT YOUR product_area VALUE OR YOU WILL BRICK (REDNAND & SYSNAND)

Really? Editing the redNAND's file broke the sysNAND?
I don't know anything about the new Wii U scene, so I guess that's not happening then.
In that case, I'll consider going back to working on my PC NNID creator instead. Forget I said anything.

No it only bricked Rednand. However it is assumed that sysnand would brick too though.

I think I messed up...Last week I turned off url filtering on my router to download updates for my 3ds. Yesterday when I checked my wiiu, it had updated to 5.5.1. And now loadiine wont run, keeps saying missing OS specific...am I fudged??

Really? So after hack the virtual wii We can't update the system?
I thought the changes in the virtual wii would not suffer interference with the Wii U updates.

USB loading is stable for all games with a disc release. Free DLC is not possible without some form of sig patching. Wii U discs cannot be dumped into a single file, only "Loadiine format"

Try running it through the HBL

If you fudge with the vWii vIOSs it will prevent the Wii U from updating, otherwise you're good

Do I need redNAND to Instal games from SD card to USB or internal memory?
Are the loading times better than with KernelExploit doing this? ^

TIA

seems that 2 weeks ago, the images were changed, the rednand needs to be created again? because the last one gives error

I'm getting the error code 0xFFFBF442 when trying to install free Wii U DLC via Wup installer. Help?
