The Big Basketball Thread

I REALLY hate to say it, but I think the Celtics are going to take it all this year. When everyone is healthy, they're going to have an unstoppable defense, not to mention 5 bigs with great playoff experience. Glen Davis, Kevin Garnett and Shaq, along with Jermaine O'Neal and Kendrick Perkins when they're healthy. I'd love to say the Magic have a chance, but Shaq alone, even while old can still slow down Dwight. Throw in another 4 bigs in the mix, and he pretty much can't do anything.
Most of all those players are old now. And Shaq sucks now.

It doesn't matter how old Shaq is. He's still big and huge plus he's got other bigs to cover for him. Defense usually stays stronger with age than offense.

My favorite team is the Knicks. I think we will definitely get into the playoffs because of Amar'e. Carmelo might come to the Knicks too.

EDIT: If the Knicks had a second more when they were playing the Celetics the Knicks would have won.
I think they should have won that game. Even 0.2 seconds would have given them the win, which I think they should have added.

So what's up with the trades the Magic did today?

LAKERS FTW!!!!
I don't know, could be good or bad. Getting rid of Gortat and Rashard were pretty big losses, even if Rashard wasn't having a great sesason, so I think more trades are probably down the pipe for the Magic.

I think that they should have kept Lewis with Hedo coming back but Orlando might want to sign another Big-man...

Yes nutella that is true but I think that the trades benefited the Wizards and Suns more.

But the "Vujacic-Smith with others" trade for the Lakers was genius. I would like to see Shannon Brown play a lot more with Steve Blake. Maybe they will turn into the SB x2 Renegades... Steve Blake will break ankles later in the season...

Of course the trade benefited the other teams more because they had so much to gain. But yeah, the Lakers trade was pretty good too, especially because the Lakers had already made huge acquisitions in the off season.

Damn those trades were crazy! I think the Suns really got a good deal out of this. J-Rich is a big loss offensively but they got Vince so thats cool, Carter in a run and gun offence = Highlight reel. Hedo wasn't playing at the level he was so dumping him back to the Magic was a smart move. Pietrus is solid and Gortat will help inside the paint. Lewis and Arenas is a contract swap. Magic got the better player there.

That trade was put together to give the nets more picks to package for Carmelo.

Melo and CP3 look like they're going to be Knicks next season IMO. I know Felton and Gallinari are decent but they sure aren't Allstars. New York got the pieces to trade for them in Azibuke, Randolph, Turiaf etc. Plug those two in the starting linup with Amar'e... thats scary.

I can definitely see Melo going to NY, but CP3? If that happens, I will just about shoot myself. It's much better than the Heat trio IMO. Even though the individual players aren't as good, that's a more than well rounded trio than what the Heat got.

The Heat and New Look Magic Lost!!!!!

LAKERS 3-PEAT is coming in June...
Give them a break dude, the Heat had a huge streak going and still only lost by two. The new look Magic also did not have any training. It was their first DAY together. The Lakers themselves still have ways to go for a 3peat.

You might as well have a gun ready if the Hornets don't make playoffs because Paul is as good as gone if that happens. The team is just average at best and isn't good enough to go far, he got a much better opportunity if he goes to the Knicks with Melo to win a ring. Definitely a better trio than the Heat got, if the trade does go down I wouldn't be surprised if they run away in the the regular season with 65+ wins and sweep teams come playoffs.

Nutella??? Clippers DUDE... Once you are a Clipper, championships will never be won.

LAKERS FTW...3-peat

CP3 is better than everyone on the Heat IMO.He creates shots for teammates scores and steals almost as much balls as rondo. If he had Amare and Melo taking shots rather than West and idk who they have on there team his assist total will skyrocket.

You can't really judge a team this early in the season
Lakers has one of the easiest schedule so far and went on a 3 or 4 games losing streak
if they meet Boston I doubt they'll win it all

As for the Magic, I see them getting better
lewis was dead weight, I hope they start Bass
and Arenas is an improvement over Carter

Clippers will be good, Blake Griffen is a beast, R.o.Y and future MVP in my opinion
I think if they can get a good passing PG they will be 40-50 win team

The Heat, I want to see them healthy first before judging them, and they need to improve their bench
they rely too much on the big 3 to win games

melo will end up in NY and the chance of Paul going there is pretty high too

end of my BB rant
