Smart move making this on the Freeplay Weekend. Maybe we could possibly fill out the server with all Tempers this time! So stoaked.

Think you should go thank Frogger for the idea, because it certainly wasn't mine

I'm confused about the free weekend does it mean we ca download the FULL TF2 game onto our PC and never have to pay for anything again and play on steam?

/me sneaks on the temp server now "as it is currently running"

It's in Europe though, so sadly that's to be expected :/

Nope, you'll be able to download and play the game this weekend, but unless you buy the game you'll have to wait for another free weekend before you can play it again.

Hopefully my internet won't be so damn terrible that mine'll go over 100.

(goddamn thing was giving me 200 on a brit server the other day)

Awesome! This (if I can get in) will be my first time playing Temp Fortress with my new graphics card. All your fps are belong to me.

It should be worth noting that almost every single time Valve does a Free TF2 Weekend, the game also goes on sale for an obscenely cheap price. Lately they've been selling it for not even $3. If they do it again, and you enjoy yourselves on Saturday, I highly recommend you pick it up on the cheap!

SOLDIERS WON BABY YEAAHHHHH FUUUUCK YEAHHHHH

GET HYPE.

So what's the fourth secret item going to be?

Also fuck now I'm going to spend the whole weekend achievement whoring.

The fourth item for Soldiers are boots that replace the shotgun, drastically reduces the damage you take from Rocket Jumps. Nothing major, but could come in handy for a few I guess.

Would have been way better for sticky jumping (imagine doing that with five sticky bombs, goddamn).

Thanks for that.

Oh and for anybody who hasn't seen it yet, here's the announcement:

QUOTE
The 18th century was a time of rapid innovation; in the space of a single year, the two-storey building, the stage play, America, and the rocket launcher were all invented by the same man: Shakespearicles, the strongest writer who ever lived. Despite his powerful grasp of language and the ability to bench press 700 British pounds, several inventions eluded his iron grip—most tragically among them, stairs. For the next three hundred years, people who needed to get to the second floor used the only method available to them: shooting a rocket launcher at their feet. Yes, it was ridiculous, crippling, and awful, but what are you going to do? Not go to the second floor? That’s where your bed is.

Luckily, in 1857, a young bearded inventor named President Abraham Lincoln stumbled upon the answer: stairs. Unluckily, he never grasped the full import of his own invention, and died attempting to rocket jump up the world’s first staircase in his laboratory at Ford’s Theater. Horrified by this tragedy, mankind agreed never to invent anything again, turning its many scientists and scholars to that most noble endeavor, astrology.

It would not be until 1921 when hotheaded Pisces Franklin D Roosevelt, languishing in a hospital after losing both of his legs in a rocket-jumping accident, stumbled upon Lincoln’s notes and perfected the modern staircase, freeing people from the tyranny of the second floor as Lincoln intended.

No advancement has been made in the escalation sciences since… until now. Introducing the Gunboats, secondary-slot boots that reduce rocket jump damage by a huge amount, rendering stairs forever useless. What is the science behind these miracles of technology? Magic, probably.

In conclusion, why are you still reading this? These things are live, in the game, right now. Go go go!

I love you, Soldier, but for some reason I feel as though the boots would be better used by the Demoman.

To be honest, I honestly don't see myself using the boots or the buff bugle thing. They all just seem too gimmicky, and they replace the shotgun which is invaluable to soldiers (good ones, anyways). Maybe the pickax once in a while, but that's it. Definitely going to use the Direct Hit though.

Steam Achievement Manager, bro. Just use it to unlock the milestones, nothing else or Valve will remove the ability to switch out weapons for a short amount of time, according to my friend.

I have one I got from a goon a while back that worked fine, not sure if that was it but I completely forgot about it. Might be the same thing, can't remember. Can't even find the one I used before.

Thanks for that, anyway.

edit: Apparently people using achievement unlockers are getting fucked, might wait a bit.

edit 2: apparently it's just because servers are having a hard time dealing with the update or something, loadouts aren't becoming available.
