Hacking Testing update blocking?

Hey guys.

So i've blocked the Nintendo update servers via my router (see screenshot below).
I tried koth.net to see if they are blocked. Some of them get a response.

However, if I try and ping any of these servers after applying the list below via the Terminal on my Mac, I don't get a response. Could koth.net just be setup wrong?

Surely if I can't ping the servers, it's working.

Ping response is: ping: cannot resolve nus.cdn.shop.wii.com: Unknown host

Would love some confirmation!

You've done it right don't worry, I had the same experience with that koth site.
Try blocking a site like YouTube to test it on the console if you want, you'll see it's working fine.

Great idea regarding blocking youtube. I'll give that a whirl and then i'll have the peace of mind i'm striving for.

So I tried /u/derkiederk suggestion, to block youtube and try and access it from my Wii U, and it failed.
It looks like i'm good to go.
