But what if the free guy does it better, faster, and simpler? Atmosphere will have backup loading week 1. It won't take much to make a custom installer app.
It's not faster or simpler until it's a coldboot thing. Sorry dude but plugging in a USB dongle and just having a CFW work is definitely faster/easier than the current methods used to run Fusee.

Sure told me the way Reswitched responded to TX's plans to release stuff, and how Kate was talking about how she could make a mod chip, and give it away the plans for free, in response to TX like a month or so ago. So yes, I do believe that TX is pretty much shoving Reswitched to get shit done faster, and actually release stuff. They wanna fuck over TX hard.

They're in a bit of a rut either way.

If they take TX's bait - they release stuff faster, but at the detriment to their "ethical disclosure" system (which is industry standard) and they take a hefty chunk out of TX's profits, but if they don't, TX makes a buck which they don't want and at worst, by the time they do release something - TX has already made bank and probably taken their idea and monetised it (or merged it into an existing product as a form of advert).

Stuck between a rock and a hard place.

You can't use this with open source tools, it'll be locked to "TX CFW". You own a smartphone, you can do this same thing NOW - and soon you wont even need that for ATMS.

Yeah i might be able to. You forget the part where people make choices that might be others than yours. For example, the last thing i would like to do is carry a usb C to usb C cable just for this reason when travelling, as i do not need it for ANYTHING else and that cable alone would probably cost upwards of £15/20 (only recently bought a usb a -> usb c and to get a decent quality you need to spend at least that much) and making sure my phone has all data and apps. I much prefer a dongle that i can load whatever payload i want (TX in the past have allowed other custom cfws on their chips, i highly doubt they would change their tune now). Just because you like to use your phone or pc for this does not mean anybody else does as well. I have a case for my Switch when travelling, i can drop a small dongle in there as it fits nicely and when/if the free tools become as mature as to support everything this does already (as in work in every firmware out of the box) then i will plan accordingly.

Personally, i am more of a hard mod person, i hate having to hack my console every time it boots, so i am pretty sure there is going to be a TX pro or something like this that will handle all of these internally, soldered on the right pins. But the most convenient by FAR way is to have a dongle to cold boot *at the moment*. As and when things escalate to no dongle solutions then let's revisit this conversation. Until then it is pretty much conjecture. The same thing this dongle was yesterday before TX announced it and everybody thought its not coming at all.

Atmosphere has both a backup loader and a way to switch games - it's just re-written Horizon + installing apps

There won't be a backup loader built within Atmosphere. RS team don't oficially support piracy, so it's out of the question. It will come from other sources tho.

In my eperience the guy that gets paid does a better job, sticks around longer, and cares more about the work he does. The "I do it for free" guy tends to bodge shit together, break more than he fixes, fux off home early and relinquishes all responsibility because "free, did you a favour mate now leave me alone".

People seem to be singing the praises of shit they've not even seen yet! For all we know atmosphere and tx are going to pink screen your switches within a week, we just don't know.

But if I was a betting man, I'd be putting my money on the guy that wants to keep his reputation, and income, intact.

It's all well and good until u lose the dongle or break it and ur locked out of the cfw and can't get back in or break ur usb port on the bottom and u have a brick. I'm sure the cfw is locked down to hell and back unless u have that dongle.

Personally, i will preorder it. Atmosphere is still in early stages and i thust tx to have a reliable solution. No battery problem. No early possible issues. I did the same for 3ds at first the homebrew scene was still in developpement and not quite yet ready. Yes my current intresst is for backup loading like many people here. But unt the time the scene matures, i will be using switch sx.

The way I see it is that the 30$ are just for the convenient/portable way to launch payloads (And it is worth it). Their CFW is just an extra.

I personally think the TX CFW is going to be initially superior if I'm being totally honest. The way I see it TX has alot more to lose from this than Re-Switched, who owe nobody anything.

I'm going to buy a couple of games to see me through the opening month or two before jumping into anything, which would be my advice to anyone really.

But TX for me is definitely looking the better option until a permanent cold boot solution exists.

you should not say that so loud, Kipz might hear it and go after you
So we have a confirmation that the device will cost only 30$? Or this is pure speculation...

AFAIK there's no oficial word from TX on it yet. Some user posted earlier an Alibaba seller with the 30$ pricetag but it was later reminded by other user that TX don't sell through that and some others retailers, so it was probably fake. They said that preorders will start on this weekend tho.
