I've disabled SpotPass's automatic software downloads, and battery life has improved significantly...but not to the same level as before. Nintendo's done something.

I can confirm this too. I took it a step further, turned off all online features and turned off the wifi completely. I noticed a boost but not the same as before. What Other People are saying is most likely true, Nintendo must of added some kind of back round checking.

Oh, and skip what I said about the region-eShop thing- yup, still works. GB>Switzerland, now Shantae's Revenge is no longer £11, but £8 (11,20 CHF)

Battery life has definitely gone down the toilet. I used to get 2-3 days in sleep mode on a single charge, now it dies by the end of one day.

It's annoying that I have to turn off SpotPass software downloads, since it's an awesome feature, but I'm somewhat mollified by the fact that I live in Europe, so Nintendo probably won't give me anything anyway.

Nintendo didn't think this through obviously.
Again, it's the same as with the DS. YOU SHOULD ALWAY WAIT FOR THE LITE!

Maybe from constant uses in sleep mode the battery has degraded?
Also, if people are at home, why cant you just leave it on the charger when you aren't playing it, I mean, thats why the made the dock.

Synopsis After Updating 3DS To This Firmware:-
- Battery life still same since launch? Check
- Charging Cradle problem fixed? (i.e. LED doesn't go off when Battery full) Check
- Overall system stability improved? Check

So far everything is perfect

I don't know what you all guys are complaining for. SpotPass is always on and wireless too, battery life has been the same since launch.

i just turn off the wireless entirely...except for some spotpass updates, i turn it for a sec, put it in sleep mode and that's all
haven't noticed any changes to the battery life
but i put my bet on the spotpass as well, constantly using wireless seems like sth that could drain the battery quite fast
it seems unlikely that N implemented sth that would check for any non-approved modifications

all i noticed that it powers off much faster....

Hmm... it could be a localised problem - oh, and my 3DS has developed another fault. Internet Browser signal dropouts, showing one bar when I have placed my console directly on the Wi-Fi router itself. ¬_¬

I never bought a Lite. Once my DS broke [in half] I went straight to DSi, and then DSiXL after that.

Have you guys ever happen try to turn on your 3DS after like 20 hours and nothing happen? Second time you click on the power button the 3DS turns on..
I think this is a problem caused by this update..
sorry about my english :/

I still haven't updated my 3ds of what I heard in this thread but the power button issue is still in the last update as I usually need to press it 2-3 times to power on.

Actually this happens sometimes on my DSi XL. Sometimes it just doesn't power on on the first try. Also running a console less than 6 months old so this isn't something that comes from an old button or something..

Oh, and to anyone being put off from buying a 3DS because of my post.
If you feel like getting one, get one. It is definitely worth the price.

I still think the biggest fault of the system are the users that cant take care of tech.
