After I patch system menu.wad, should I just use wad manager to install it, or should I use a different tool.
Im not completly sure if Wad Manager would just overwrite it, so I thought I'd ask first

theres no need to patch the system menu wad anymore with the CIOS Pack, i wish a mod could remove that part of the thread

I've been following this topic (or trying to follow, at least) for some time now. It looks like a major achievement and I wan to congratulate you for all the hard work you've been doing these days. That said, I guess I'll wait till someone makes a tutorial and everything is presented in a not-so-fragmented way before installing

Thank you for pointing that out. It works great

This was much easier to do than people have made it out to be, we just chipped a wii without chipping it.

So with Boot Me - You do away with the need for a GC controller for the reov auto boot then?

I take it you patch the iso and pop in dvd drive and then it loads as if port 4 was filled with a gc controller with CIOSCORP installed?

No you just change a byte on the disc to make it autobootable.

Not Exactly. This patch make the wii disc to autoboot instead of manual boot. This is not using the rescue menu or a gc controller at all. I think if your System Menu is corrupted, the game will not boot unlike the rescue menu.

The game will autoboot too on the rescue menu...

The game must be the same region as your console or you'll have to patch your iso with WiiFrii.

4 easy steps to get an out of region game to autoboot with CIOSPACK :

1. Patch the ISO with WiiBrickblocker
2. Patch the ISO with WiiFrii
3. Patch the ISO with BootMe
4. Burn the ISO with ImgBurn

You misunderstood me Seb77 - I know I can make an out of region game work by patching it.

The thing that is facinating me is that you can patch the disc to autoboot without having the reov menu active or a gc controller in.

Also, I know we can autoboot a WAD manager disc through the recovery menu with CIOSCORP but can you just burn a wad manager dvd, patch it with boot me and then babing pop it in the wii and it will autoload wadmanager?

See, I don't have a GC controller and this would be an easy fix if needs be. But hey, ive got preloader so what the hell.

Yep, it'll work. Maybe the system menu can even be patched to autoboot anything if an sd card is inserted.

Ok folks this is just speculation but it seems that this idea may bring us closer to being able to play GC Backups. Earlier it was noted that the reason backups were failing on the first attempt was that they needed to be patched to run on the CIOS...... Yet they would still display the banner and play the music........ Gamecube backups will currently display the banner and such when menu rebooter is used...... So would patching the MIOS with the same info as one patches the CIOS with enable this to work? I mean after all don't GC Games boot through MIOS? It may work with the same patch but it may require a custom patch.............. any thoughts on this?

and if MIOS where do they load through?
Yay i get to answer this ? again. heh.

No that won't work. Wiigator already patched the MIOS and set the bit needed to enable reading of the discs, however they use the wrong dvd commands, so until someone manages to figure out a way to patch the dvd commands on the fly gamecube backups via softmod are not possible.

WiigatorOne remark to the GameCube discussion:
I sent the source code for starting GameCube games on Wii to ppc_gba. It is not possible to run the games, because the games use the wrong DVD command to read the DVD. I don't know, if he was able to get around the problems. I haven't yet tried to get this working
I patched the MIOS and there is no further patch required for MIOS, because this will not help in any way.
What you currently could do is: Accessing DVD with Homebrew software in GameCube mode. So you could watch a DVD in GameCube mode. I don't what sense this will make, because you can this already in Wii mode, but it is possible.

Here's a link to the wiki on wiibrew about disc boot mode

Methods to boot a disc

@Skarface05 I've understand what you where talking and the 4 steps part of my post was for all the people here who needs an easy way to play anykind of backup rapidly.

Kind of "insert and play" gamecube mode.

To create an autoboot DVD with a desired .dol, you just:

1)Modify the pink gay fish .iso (Backup Disk 1.31) opening it with trucha signer and change the main.dol with the desired .dol
2)Modify the Autoboot .iso from hackmii same method as above

...!!!

Talking about autobooting discs, to make one, I open an ISO witha hex editor and change the first value to 00 if I'm correct? I'd like to make more autobootable discs and BootMe doesn't run on Wine.

EDIT: Seems like someone posted a link to booting discs and but I haden't refreshed the page so I didn't see it!

Hey guys, been reading this from the beginning and it's just awesome how fast this has evolved.

I'm just putting it on my Wii now but I'm having few problems. As far as I can tell it should all be ready to go, but when I try to install the CIOSCORP WADS through WAD manager v1.3 i'm just getting a error! (ret = -1035)?

Any help would be brilliant as I think I must just be missing an install prior to installing the cios wads.

Cheers All

Snave

EDIT - I've been through them all and some install but some don't:
DON'T: - 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, 28

I've tried a few games and they work fine through the disk channel, so is there any need install these ones? If there is, could someone please just point me in the right direction to get them to install?

Thanks again
