Hi all !!

Can someone pm me with a link for the CIOSPACK please ?

- I've been reading the thread from the beginning and i'll give a try to this this weekend after a NAND dump. I like the fact that this method allow you to load a autoboot DVD of WAD manager.

- I will try to use BootMe to make an autoboot DVD of a game to see if a backed up game can be loaded without the rescue menu of starfall before the system menu load.

Maybe with just the cIOS30 installed it will work...

Thanks in advance !

P.S. I'm in 3.2U with HBC, BCgamma and Starfall installed.

people who want true disc channel loading really just need a chip.

messing with EITHER the system menu or the IOS it runs off is not something to be taken lightly.

if its worth the risk to you fine.

theres ways nintendo could purposefully or accidentally brick your wii if you do this,

AND in theory you could corrupt system data that you don't even know about.

fair warning, how much is disc channel loading really worth?

no offense intended at you here noobwarrior7, but we know the risks.

Not only are we WILLING and ABLE to take the risk, but as you can tell, many of us are even ANXIOUS to take the risk. Did you not see the photo taken of us driving over to WiiBlaster's house to pick up the new cIOS666 he just created!

As far a general compatibility goes.... I have 180 Wii Backups. 63 of these are NTSC 1:1 Games. 63 of my 63 NTSC 1:1 backups work perfectly. I don't have a single NTSC 1:1 backup that has any problems at all. In fact, "ALL" of the different types of game incompatibility problems that i've read about are no longer there for me.
Titles like The Price is Right and Game Show Party or whatever it's called no longer crash. They would always crash during wheel spin portions of the game. NFS undercover does not have the 002 error and works 100%.
[...]

Could you add some info about these two games not working with backup launchers here:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=123...p;#entry1639626

Do they still crash if you run them from a loader? I want as much information as possible, this is the only way, somebody could fix these games for backup launchers.

guys

this is driving me crazy

why won,t these 4 games not work ahhhhhhhh!

If the games work with Gamma, but not with your patched system files, there are 3 possibilities:
1. You didn't patch the required IOS files
2. Something went wrong during patching
3. The patching method you use doesn't work for these IOS

QUOTE(Jizmo @ Jan 9 2009, 10:29 PM)
After throwing around information about Multi-cIOS-Installer and the CIOSCORP pack for the past couple hours I got to thinking.

On my SD card I have IOS36 and IOS37 stored in their 00000001/00000024 and 00000001/00000025 folders respectively. By looking at the path I'm going to assume that 00000024 being the hex value of 36 that all of the IOS will be stored in a folder 8 digits long and numbered in HEX code to match the IOS number.

Now when I use MCI and install an IOS using either of these two IOS versions they of course install from the SD, reporting "downloading from SD"
When I use MCI to install an IOS using either 33 or 55 they install from the internet, reporting "downloading from internet" because I dont have those 2 on my SD

What I want to do is have all of the IOS 9-55 in their perspective folders on my SD. Then I want to have a version of MCI that can install any version as any other. Excluding the system menu IOS and any other IOS we might find that needs to be left alone. (only time will tell)

So what I would like to know is..... so that I don't have to manually download all those IOS components (about 20 per IOS) what utility will extract those components from the IOS wad files for me, assuming they are all in the wad file.

It should be easy to add more IOS to the multi_cios_installer, but i haven't tested it with IOS files extracted from wads as the tmd and the ticket are different from the ones you get from the servers. But why this complicated? Why don't you extract all IOS from a 3.2 game, put the dip into all IOS where possible and use the mulit_cios_installer for all others? You need the dip replacement for IOS30 anyways, so you should have all needed tools and the knowledge how to do this.

any original game will launch with this setup from recovery mode (Game must match your region)
any backup game will launch with this setup from recovery mode (Game must match your region)

Having a cIOS installed at IOS30 serves two purposes:

1: The System Menu's IOS is used to read the ICON/BANNER/SOUND/IOS/REGION/GAMEID from the DVD. How do I know this? I don't, but I'm assuming so since if you put in an out of region disc it doesn't show up in the disc channel.

a. so if the system menu IOS is original then the disc channel can only display originals

b. if the system menu IOS is a cIOS then the disc channel can display backups and originals, since the cIOS has the Dip7

c. since out of region backup are not displayed, I'm going to assume out of region originals also will not display. If anybody who has installed this has both an NTSC and PAL original would you please test this theory and report back.

d. since patching an out of region game to your region makes that game show up in the disc channel, we have further evidence that Region ID is the reason out of region games aren't being recognized by disc channel.

2: It would allow backups of games that use IOS30 to work.

Once the system menu has read the ICON/BANNER/SOUND/IOSREGIONID/GAMEID information, that information is used to determine how the game launches.
So even though IOS30 loads that information. It doesn't load the game. When you press start the control is passed to the Game's IOS. I'm not positive at what exact point here the control gets passed to the games IOS. but I think it's directly from hitting the start button.

So what we are simply doing is Patching IOS30 to be able to display backups in disc channel, and patching all the other IOS so that the IOS used by games can read backups. This provieds much better compatibility (region issues asside) than the way the backup launchers do it by forcing the games to use IOS249.

Having said all this, It seems apparent to me that all we have to do is somehow force the RegionID, or Spoof it somehow, whether it's through a modification of system menu or if it can be done at the IOS level. What we DO KNOW, if the RegionID on the Disc matches your Wii Region it will show up in system menu and run.

can anybody pm me ios 37,38,53 and 55? but only the originals...

Why is this this difficult? If you need them, you have them already, just think.

i have the patched ones, but i don't have the originals... i don't have the original 01.app from them... or is that app the same on all ios's?

If you have a game which requires IOS37 for example, where does your Wii get it from, when you aren't online?

yeah i know, but mario kart needs it, but my iso is scrubbed, and 55 and 53 and 38 are on need for speed which i don't have... the rest i took of the iso's. and i did install the cios's from it, because i want to make sure it works in the future...

I really hope you can check the other IOS and try to create a really complete MCI WiiPower, well at least from 22 to 55...!!!!

EDIT: to all teh people wandering how to get back to normal your Wii, it is pretty simple, and I have said it many times (like 2 or 3

EDIT **********
man did i mess this quote up. I'm replying to WiiPower

That is what was already done. I just wanted a more versatile MCI and to have all the IOS on the SD for it.

I did not know that tmd and ticket are differnt when extracted from the wad. Thank you for that info.

As far as why I didn't do all of this for myself, for the past 72 hours i've had one hand typing answering questions and the other playing with my JiizBlaster.

I have just messaged wiigator and waninkoko to see if they know, or have any suggestions, for patching the system menu to A. Force Video mode, B. Force Region and C. Allow Decrypted games to be run. I'm very hopeful on the first two, but feel the third is rather unlikely. I'll post back here with details if/when they reply.

I will consider it. But i already see lots of noobs overstrained with running a application from the HBC and ohoh copying files to the right folders.

I think A isn't necessary. I thought the disc channel falls automatically back to other video modes, if the one you prefer isn't possible. And B is two points: 1. Don't ignore games from other regions and 2. video mode stuff. And please let decrypted games die.

Ewww... i wouldn't even have brought up the Decrypted games thing. I think Forced Region is the main thing right now. Especially since many of us have multisync LCD and TVs that will sync all NTSC/PAL50/PAL60. The noobs on $20 13inch TVs can wait..... heehehe

A thought just occured to me and I may just be passing gas, but does anybody think that maybe the reason Region Free is not working might have something to do with
using WiiGator's IOS36R7 instead of Waninkoko' version. After all, you need Waninkoko's for menu patcher to work. So if we installed waninkoko's cIOS at IOS30 maybe region free would start working? make any sense?

I don't think this is going to be used by noobs, cause no one will tell them how to use it, cause (in the first place) noobs should been doing this without (at least) the knowledge to ensamble wads from the dumping they HAVE MADE, this is not flamming this is "need knowledge to tell what da' freakin' F**K you are doing", don't you think...???

Hey i'm using a sdtv with rgb cable, so my cable more expensive as you expect my tv to be. Oh, and i would need video mode stuff for import games, if i had any. (rgb isn't compatible at all with NTSC)

yeah but they're like the disease on GBATemp and other Forums etc....... that's spreading on softmods, all the 10 year olds think hey, it's free gamez, JUMP IN......wait for it..............................................................................
............HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

The menu plays whatever video mode the disc is by default, it doesnt attempt to goto your video mode. I know this for a fact because i have 3 games which do support NTSC but default to PAL if not forced. As for decrypted games, i see no reason to let them die, especially with the way the economy is right now. Alot of people still have several decrypted games from beta (i have 15) which they can't afford to re-burn right now. I'm one of those 2.5 million unfortunate people to have become jobless, and i don't see the economy doing a sudden turn about anytime soon. Although as I said i doubt the decrypted support is possible. But hey if we can have all three why not? As for video modes i didn't use to care as i have a DLP projector that supports all video modes, unfortunatly the bulb blew a few days ago and at 250 a pop obviously i can't afford to replace it, so im stuck on a crappy 27" tv now that only does NTSC and black and white pal.
