Noob Question

I tried to play my Wii today and now today I get the "The system files are corrupted" message for no reason after the health screen. My Wii was working just fine yesterday. I haven't installed anything new recently either.

Wii Version: 4.0U

boot1b boot2v3

Cios Version: cios 38 rev 17 (via this post http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=203...=0&start=0)

I have Bootmii installed as well, but I don't know how to use it too well so I wanted to ask first.

BootMii v0.9

EDIT:

Here's a video:

(IGNORE THE SUBTITLES. THEY ARE SLOW AND OFF)

You havent installed any themes with mymenufy have you? I got this last week after installing a theme and next reboot, I got the system files are corrupted. I just used priiloader to get into homebrew channel and install a different theme and all was well again.

i agree with daco, something happened here... bricks dont come out of nowhere (not that this is a brick)

here are a couple of solutions, pick the 1 that suits u best

1) launch bootmii and restore a nand backup from before u were having this problem (recommended fix if u have bootmii as boot2)
2) use wad manager or dop-ios to reinstall your system menu IOS and your system menu. If u have an older version of preloader installed, make sure your system menu IOS is patched (or just upgrade preloader to priiloader)

edit: btw, 4.0 sucks... if i were u i would look into upgrading to 4.1 or 4.2

Bootmii tends to be useless without the knowledge of how to use it.

Can you boot into the bootmii menu and then load the homebrew channel?

Or alternatively, do you have preloader installed?

If the answer to these questions is no, you have a bricked wii.

Edit: Xflak is right, but I'm assuming you have no nand backup, because you don't know how to use bootmii.

Ok, I figured out my problem. I can boot the wii in maintenance mode and when I tried reinstalling the cios I rebooted it back into normal mode the menu works and after I play a game and reset and come back to the system menu it gives me the same system files error. I have tried playing games from the official disc and the usb loadergx (via HDD) and resetting. The only way I can get the menu to come up is to boot into maintenance mode and reinstall the cios again. Help?

System Menu: Upgraded to Waninkoko hacked 4.1 now

It almost sounds like a mail brick to me. If your still having issues then check out the link in my sig. But if the case is that it is a mail brick then I want you to mail the file to me so I can examine it and I can give you instructions on how to extract it for me.
a mail brick? are you saying one of his friends send him a fake mail or something? o_O;

http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/unbricking

keep scrolling till you find it

But before unbricking, please let deadly extract the problem-causing e-mail. Since this is such a rare brick, we are all interested in the cause of it ^.^

Ok here are the methods I trid:

- Updating to 4.1 (Waninkoko)
- Mail Brick Solution (Det1re's Method) (No "Mail account is broken" error)
- Reinstalling the Cios (rev 14)

Things I have done a few weeks before this happened:

- Installed a game wad ( which is deleted now)
- Installed cios rev 17 ( Went back to 14)

Still not working so far for me. I need more solutions!
