Hacking Sx Core and Sx Lite , test Units Received

Your are to kind, you will notice some old paste on some caps, is not doing any harm is not conductive , but is not clean enough, my signature show that also.

It's the solder blobs I looked at. I know it's hard to clean the caps. I used 97% isopropel and cotton swabs to clean them when I applied new thermalpaste to the SOC.

Is it possible to overclock the switch lite and if so what’s the best way to do it?
Yes. Search for sys-clk editor for sx os. Version 1.2.4.

You might need to set up sys-clk as well, I forget if the editor sets it up automatically. You just take the files that are in atmosphere/titles and put it in sxos/content

I run maxed out settings for everything. I've never had it go over 50°C. But I also replaced the thermal paste and removed both the interference shielding and the SoC/nand shielding, so the heat pipe mounts directly to the SoC.

I use tesla + status monitor to monitor temps. That's about the max I'll ever get in gameplay. ~50.5°C. This is while the switch is in the official flip case. Not that I think it'll help, if anything it might hurt thermals. But the point is it stays nice and cool even if it hits 51°C and I've just never noticed.

This is due to Mariko's massively improved efficiency, replacing the paste doesn't impact temps much/at all.
How's battery life?

Yeah, I'm just giving my stats. I'm curious as to what others get going stock. All of the numbers I find online are all Erista. Not much testing out there on Mariko. In fact I only find myself talking about it. I know the only time it ever gets hot (can only tell the fan kicks in over 50+%) is when I'm downloading on tinfoil and close the flip case, which totally blocks airflow. I might download a large game and see what the actual temp gets to.

Battery life is just fine. I haven't noticed any real impact. But again, I haven't done any real world tests with it.

I really wish there was a stress test app for the switch so I could have some real numbers.

Also note the gpu only runs at 961 when it's plugged in. It'll run at half that when it's running on the battery.

Edit: I see removing the SoC/nand shielding as being the largest thing that might reduce thermals. Especially since you're removing a full layer of TIM between the SoC and the heat pipe. The interference shielding does pretty much nothing for thermals, for or against.
Again this is just much assumptions, and as you have said and as I've said multiple times in the SX install thread, the quality of thermal paste means very very little.

Wrote this quick sys-clk patch, it should enable using max clocks while on battery specifically on hardware types that use mariko (Iowa ("V2" Switch), and Hoag (Switch Lite). Also technically Calcio, but that's docked/TV only, so uh lol)
If you want to give it a try.

I just sent a switch to Portugal myself and I'm further away technically

Because on my country's postal office website they say every shipment may pass through customs. Therefore i wanted to know if he had any specific problems with Romania.

And being on an island doesn't make further away. But good to know that we can still send and receive from UK with no problems.
 
Yea when i did my lite i removed the sheild all together and monuted the heatpipe on the chip, still will test it this weekend
I havent used overclocking before, or ussef sysclk

is there a file for the lite to get the max on battery and max when charged in, i wanna push it and see and test without as well
 
After god know how long, I pre ordered the sx core from the site that was taken down, but they somehow still managed to complete the order. For months, didn't hear or receive anything, no way of contacting them, the sx core arrived today.

Damn, I did not realise how small these bad boys were, yeah I seen videos and pics, this is probably out of my soldering skills.
