In case you don't follow the scene (I mean hello, you're here) Cody seems to have found something interesting in the IPC Interface on the switch. just thought this would be a good area to discuss ideas, thoughts on switch VR, potential hacking of the VR mode and if it was just left over code. He is stating that it's Not Nvidia code but definitely nintendo, anyways, I'll share a screen shot to simplify things.

The Switch's resolution aside, the hardware is too weak for VR, especially in portable mode. It would be a rather bad experience. No head tracking either.
True, but i would go for some skyrim-level visuals or some Nintendo Polished Art for VR. Headtracking could be solved with creating a headset wth gyro like joycons

It's way too weak for VR
It's the kind of experience you'd better off enjoy at its full potential, which is why PC or PS4 Pro are really the only best choices

Again Switch VR is not gonna work ! 720P resolution means in theorie like 480p per eye or less. An oculus rift and vive wich i own both are using 1440p screens and still have a screendoor effect and blurry at times. A 720p screen will never work for VR

I don't see how well would it perform or how comfortable it would be, but hey, it's Nintendo we are talking about, they are the masters of surprise, after all.

Most people didn't have much faith in Mario + Rabbids before it was officially revealed and now it has a 85 on metacritic (42 reviews).
Most people don't expect VR to work on Switch....

I'll hold judgement till/if they ever reveal it.

It would work, it would just be ugly as all hell and probably have pretty inaccurate tracking. Even Vive just looks okay at 2160×1200 before super-sampling. Looks great at 4K, and the next gen of VR HMDs will be at least 4K. So IMO it'd be pointless for Nintendo to bother with 720p VR right now, it'd be obsolete within two or three years and nobody would develop for it.

switch has an mobile low energy nvidia grapich cpu and the minimums recommended is a gtx 1060 for very very nice and best experience so there is no way the switch can do an great vr experience....

Yes but I probably wouldn't bother with it. Ninty's not even made proper use of the HD Rumble yet.

... where have you been?...

Actually I have a GearVR and it's pretty good with the S7's hardware (which I'd call on par with the Switch if we're taking software optimization into account), although the screen door effect is noticeable even at 2K so I'd hate to see what it's like on a 720p screen.

Last edited by Xzi,
I'd like it, even if it only was for movies. The capability is in it with the controller's alone. If they sold a VR helmet, I'd get it, since I've never got to try VR properly.
