Firmware 23.0.1 released for Switch and Switch 2, makes games sometimes boot faster

Well that didn't take long. Right on the heels of the latest Atmosphere update, Nintendo fire back with a firmware update of their own. Bumping both the Switch and Switch 2 to firmware 23.0.1, we surprisingly see no additional system stability this time around. Instead, we get a boost to how fast games launch. Sometimes. You can find the full details below:

Nintendo Switch Ver. 23.0.1
  • Fixed an issue from system version 23.0.0 where software occasionally took a long time to start, pause, or close.
Nintendo Switch 2 Ver. 23.0.1
  • Fixed an issue from system version 23.0.0 where software occasionally took a long time to start, pause, or close.
I've seen no word on whether the recently released version of Atmosphere will support this latest firmware, so if your dog's sister's girlfriend happens to update your system while you're our volunteering for charities, by all means let us know below.

Make it worst then fix it back is enhancement? You are too kind. If they return some of the sysmodule memory they took with 23 I would call it enhancement.
What happened to the user experience in 23.0.0? From what I recall it was mainly about VRR in docked mode for Switch 2 and for Atmosphere it stole even more memory for sysmodules, but I haven't checked yet if their workaround to reclaim enough memory to bring it back to 16 MB works smooth or not.

When I updated to 22.5.0 I was glad that the home menu didn't take anywhere near as long to load game tiles like in some of the firmware versions before that. Would hate to see that tank again.

You were misled, check the release note. 23 screw you with sloooow. This is suppose to make it not so baaaad
Oh... so that's what you meant. Good grief... And to think I have no choice but to update my firmware if I even want to run the upcoming Castlevania game :(

Still, unless I'm reading over something (not unthinkable given I'm rather scatterbrained today), I thought the patch notes didn't say that they sometimes load games faster, but that it fixed the bug from 23 that sometimes caused games to load slower. Shouldn't that bring things back to normal now?

Finally. This bug is present since 2017. Sometimes it took a while to close a game. Atleast that was on the Switch 1. Switch 2 was a little better and only happened sometimes. So yes obviously it's a legit update. I understand the strange reactions when it comes to this update.

Thats good to know. I thought that they slowed it down in few recent updates and then they fixed it, so people will have a reason to make system update :).
