Thanks for answering.

Is it ok to update to the latest atmosphere 1.3.0? It is still a pre-release. And also is it ok to update to the latest ofw 14.0?

Please clarify these as well?

  • What should be the order of update. ofw and then cfw(atmosphere + hekate) or cfw first and then ofw?
  • Will doing so result in switch always booting to hekate bootloader? Currently performing injection boots directly into cfw.

yes, there are plenty of folks running it at this point (myself included) you can safely run it as your main.

CFW first and leave OFW alone unless you want to go online with it at a later date. I always take a backup before and after I touch OFW.

You should but you don’t have to. If you inject to get into CFW today you will continue doing so. If you don’t turn on AutoRCM or insert your jig your Switch will boot into OFW by default. OFW can continue to go Online and update via Nintendo servers like normal. CFW should never go online and if you do make sure you reduce risk by configuring dns:mitm (default, txt) and Exosphere (exosphere.ini.)

I would like to update my ofw as well. As I believe I am unable to run latest title due to it.

Initially I unknowingly connected to the internet without adding the dns ips and thus got the 14.0 update pending. I deleted it in goldleaf because the popup was very irritating.

I do not intend to go online. Just wanted to update so that I can be at peace for a quite some time.

Can you please clarify what .bin needs to be put in the rcmloader. hekate.bin or fusee.bin as I have seen different tutorials doing either.

Please elaborate on this.

totally fine with OFW. Simply go online and check/accept normal updates, it‘a best practice for OFW.

I 100% recommend hecate.x.x.x.bin since it has troubleshooting tools and can launch other payloads. Fusee.bin can only launch Atmosphere so Hekate is much better in this capacity.
Please elaborate on this.
You should continue booting into CFW by default. That should be your main. No need to boot into OFW unless you want to play officially online. To be clear, ideally you’re only going into sleep mode and aren’t injecting anything regularly…only when necessar.

Ok thanks. I think I have all of my answers. Just a final thought.

I have already downloaded 14.0 firmware zip. And planned to update it via daybreak (as per a tutorial). Do you still recommend I go with the official route to update it to the latest. (by removing dns ofcourse)

It’s understood that upgrading FW via Daybreak shouldn’t get you banned so I’d say you’ll be fine. Just my preference to always go 100% stock when dealing with OFW. Since exosphere and dns:mitm require CFW to run I don’t have to do anything when booting OFW via Hekate ( to avoid burning fuses.)

Remove the software via Setting -> Data Management and then download a new copy of hbmenu.nro. It should be in your original zip file When you hacked your switch.

shouldn‘t if the instructions are carefully followed.

They can both be on there. They won’t conflict but you will only run one at a time.

Just saw this…

This makes things a little bit more complicated…the instructions below are for migrating from SXOS to Atmosphere. I personally have a dual boot but it’s not a noob friendly thing to start with. We can get Atmosphere running to start with and then look into dual boot afterwards.
Thanks in advance

Here‘s a good starting point: https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Start here on this chapter: https://rentry.org/Getting_Started
(need to know if you’re on Erista or Mariko. Also need to make a backup for future you.)

The go to this chapter: https://rentry.org/mys8q

edit: here is the dual boot tutorial so you can get a feel for the process…

Do the V1 and V2 have different cartridge/headphone modules?

My V2 has a dodgy headphone jack and i was thinking id just swap it over from my V1 but it seems they are different from what sellers are saying?

Im hopeful that i can reflow the solder joints to get it working correctly but haven't opened it to see what the problem is yet so the actual socket could be bad.

I think the big difference is between the lite (separate module) vs V1 and V2 (where they are joined with the Game Card). There are individual headphone jacks for sale on Amazon that you could replace just the jack. That might be better option than swapping an entire GC unit?

Ive had my switch apart this morning and found what i suspected, bad solder joints and its zero surprise after finding how badly secured it was!

The PCB is less than 1mm thick but there still wasn't enough solder to even fill the through holes completely let alone make contact with the top side and whole pin, its no wonder the solder joint on the back pin failed, it was barely soldered to the PCB!

I have re soldered all pins and my headphone socket is no longer bad but further, its not at all hard to change the headphone socket on the PCB like you suggest, the factory solder melts easily and removing the socket would be straightforward and the jack on its own can be obtained on Aliexpress for under £2.

Would the webkit exploit that the ps4 uses for its jailbreak work with the switch? I know that if the switches software is anywhere close to the ps4s you still need a kernel exploit or something like that to have a full jailbreak but I'm wondering about the webkit exploit itself because I haven't seen anyone porting the ps4 code that was originally from iOS to the switch

There was one of these at one point. It was patched out.

Porting code between consoles is one thing, since they typically speak different languages underneath. Having the same vulnerability across the platforms (even in the same WebKit) is less likely due to the same thing, the various consoles are speaking different languages. You’re trying to exploit the underlying OS which is where they differ.

The switch is compartmentalized so an exploit in userland still requires additional exploits to piggy back off of in order exploit other areas. This is complicated even more so by ASLR.

Hope that makes sense while still keeping things ELIF. There are some better threads that go into way more detail in the main forums if you’d like to know more.

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with point b on the oled mod chip, or at least I think the problem is with point b. When I go to test it without the battery connected it doesn't read anything, but with the battery connected the multimeter starts beeping (also when I turn it on the chip blinks yellow and red really fast). I'm assuming this is not suppose to happen but I'm not sure what's wrong. I'm not the best at soldering but I think the points are pretty good (besides the one for 3.3 but it still gives a reading). All the other points do give a reading and ground does beep. If you have any idea of what's happening please let me know, thank you
