few questions:
1. is a game dump mean xci files?
2. which game should i use on 5.1?
5.x.x will be ok?
- Yes
- Check nswdb.com for a list of games that have 5.1
I'm not sure what firmwares 5.X is referring to but worst case scenario is that it will swap your 5.1 with one of the other 5.X firmwares which is harmless if you're already on 5.1 because all of those firmwares share the same number of burnt fuses.5.x.x will be ok?
- Installing the exFAT update officially is treated the same as updating the system firmware meaning it will reboot the system and burn your fuses. I recommend obtaining the exFAT update offline here or here.
- If you are not using SX OS and have followed the guide appropriately, you cannot use game cartridges on firmwares 4.0 and above in order to prevent your cartridge slot from breaking on firmwares below 4.0
- Simply keep the console in sleep mode and charge it then. This way, you will never run into any of the problems associated with AutoRCM. If you must power the console off, either do a manual shutdown or select Power Off from the Hekate menu. Powering off from Horizon does not turn off the console fully.
Thanks a lot mate, I dodged a bullet there and didn't try to update ext on my own, I would've burned the fuses after I did all the work with rajkosto update Anyway I have a few more questions
1. I'm not using SX OS and am on unofficial 5.1.0, does that mean that I can use only cartridges with fw 4.0 on them or what you wrote means that if I have any higher than fw 4.0 installed on my Switch that I'm not allowed to use cartridges at all (even if they are 3.0.2 or whatever)?
2. What kind of boot would you guys recommend? Auto boot to 5.1.0 or? What do you guys use?
The safest way would be to update them in OFW after having loaded them as icons in the home menu. However, 2 people have been banned this way so weigh your chances with how much you care about being banned.I am sure this has been asked but I cant seem to find it. Is there a safe way to update backups?
- Following his guide has you use a custom module that breaks the cartridge slot on firmwares 4.0 and higher. If you ever load a firmware of 4.0 or higher without that custom module, your cartridge slot will update preventing cartridges from working on firmwares below 4.0. This is a temporary fix until the community develops a more robust way of preventing the cartridge slot from updating.
- Auto-boot saves a few clicks as Hekate loads pretty quickly in of itself. Its only a few seconds you're saving every cycle.
Correct. Auto-boot simply boots you into CFW by default as opposed to navigating the menu. The only ways to simulate a real coldboot as the one you describe involve modifying the console physically, either with the SX Pro Dongle or an internal trinket. Without those, your Switch will only boot into Hekate with a device that supports sending Hekate.Understand regarding cartridges
Regarding auto-boot I was wondering just so I don't need to use jig (in my case aluminum foil) every time I wan't to boot, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding this as well Now when I think about that I don't need jig, but I need my PC or android phone right? As AutoRCM will put Switch in RCM mode but it waits for a payload to be inserted. So would auto-boot make me don't need PC or it won't?
Great, thanks. After all that I may end up returning it to Amazon anyway and just buy the used Switch I found, which is system only and £70 cheaper. This new one comes with joycons, dock etc whiich I don't need because I already have all of those through my main Switch.your good to go .. the ones in question start with 4.1.0
The unofficial way of obtaining the exFAT update actually has you update your firmware with the game hence why its recommended to use a game that has the same firmware as your console. While it seems no one has tested this with 5.X games, theoretically it will work like all of the other firmwares. 5.X firmwares all have the same number of burnt fuses so worst case scenario is end up with another 5.X firmware.will a japanese game work when trying to use it in updating exFat compatibility? cause I already have a Taiko no Tatsujin which is 5.1.0
Hey guys i am kinda noob on switch hax scene , i would like to know :
1) what i must do if my switch asks for a firmware update to play a game
Example: i have 5.1.0 firmware but dark souls remake requires the 6.x.x firmware.
Its possible upgrade using devmenu And a pc ?
2) what is layeredfs
3) where can i found the upgrade notes and future plans for the tx sx os software ?
Tks
2. It is a hack that is used to swap game files. It was originally meant for modding purposes but users have discovered that if you decrypt backups, you can swap the correct files to launch any game you desire barring a few independent compatibility issues.1. First make sure you cancel the upgrade!
2. Then press the power button and hold for about 5 seconds
3. Choose power off
4. Hold down VOL+ and VOL- and pres simultaneously the power button
5. Choose update but do not update... instead cancel the process!
6. Shut down the console and restart normally

The console is region free; it does not care what region the software originally comes from.hmmm.... so it doesn't matter what region the game dump is as long as the firmware included is the same as my system firmware? cause Im officially at 5.1.0 and Taiko no Tatsujin JP has a firmware of 5.1.0........so it should be okay , right? which in worst case scenario my switch will swap into a jp firmware? lmao
I downloaded a backup of my cartridge game, but it came out as an NCA not an NSP, how can i possibly install this with devmenu on sx os?

Its no good. We don't have the proper tools to convert a .NCA into a .NSP which is what is properly supported. You will need to use one of the CDNSP downloads to grab it from Nintendo and have that tool convert the downloaded .NCA files into .NSP. To prevent yourself from getting banned using one of those programs, utilize one of the Switch certificates floating around the Internet that others are using with these tools. Those certificates as well as info on where to look will sadly not be provided on this site. Can anyone please tell me if this is possible or not?
