I'll be sure to if I ever need to do one. I think it's a case-by-case basis, my Switch stays quite cool. Barely above room temp or feels like at 70F when playing Splatoon 2. Portable or docked.

I'm not carrying on this argument, you're right I'm wrong. Sorry for being rude, I need to work on my people skills.

higher temperature DO have significant impact on a system though even under "operating temperatures" or whatever. the xb360 and ps3 are the easiest examples of that. On the other hand my switch feels like its gonna explode when i play splatoon during the splatfests and in plugged in docked and handheld.

Yeah, due to electromigration.
Every IC is damaged always while being used even if the system is working normally.
The electromigration related damage is very low, but it increases with temperature.

PS: Anyway the 360 and PS3 didn't fail due to electromigration, they failed due to cheap ass balling, the temperatures on the Switch shouldn't be bad enough to degrade the solder.
PS/2: And I mean the temperatures on the Switch I experience on my Switch (that are quite low), as I said before I believe this shit has terrible QC, so it is a lottery, you may get one that overheats and also you may get on that doesn't.

i always play handheld mode for like 2 hours and my switch doesnt even get remotely hot lol.

How many of you have had a heating issue with your switch? Like any electronic that uses thermal paste, Nintendo used quite a bit of crappy paste. I was getting tired of my system getting too hot in handheld and docked mode this past week and decided to operate! All the thermal paste Nintendo had smeared on the cooling plates/heat pipe was replaced with a fresh coating of Arctic MX-4 paste. This has drastically reduced how hot my system gets while playing BOTW. A new cooling fix I plan to do shortly is "fix" Nintendos stupid spot of choice for the fan intake vents. The bottom of the system.. Really Nintendo engineers? No. I will be making a small circular air vent that is right on top of the system fan. a little bit of a dust filter and boom. Your switch will run much cooler! Please excuse any errors I have made, or if this idea is just stupid to you. I have not had any sleep for almost 48 hours.

pics of your paste placement so far plez

Just to put some numbers out, here's a pic of my docked switch after a bit of non intensive zelda playing, with room temp and airvent temps.

I'll get a couple more pics like this and of the back after some more intense gaming too see how hot it gets.

Update:
Heres a couple more pics after running around a few mins in the korok forest area with the framedrops since it looks to be quite an intensive task for the gpu. I can try something more demanding if somebody tells me how.
Also, ye, my room is stupidly hot.

At least the gpu area does seem cooled down, it is basically the only area at the back in the 30s mark, can even make out the circular shape of the fan above.
The last pic is of the screen and is upside down, weird that the screen's highest temp is on the bottom left.
