Hi everyone,

I’m very new to the modchip world, so please bear with me. I’m troubleshooting a strange issue with my Nintendo Switch V1 after installing a modchip.

Symptoms:

  • Hekate v6.5.1 boots reliably every time.
  • When launching Atmosphere, the Atmosphere logo appears, then it often goes to a black screen.
  • Sometimes Atmosphere boots successfully, but opening Album freezes the system.
  • Launching Stock (SYSMMC) from Hekate also results in a black screen.
  • When the screen is black, the system is still running (CPU heats up), but the fan does not spin.
Things I already tried:

  • Reformatted SD card to FAT32 (previously exFAT)
  • Fresh Atmosphere + Hekate files
  • Reinserted SD card
  • Issue still persists

Any debugging suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do your battery readings in Hekate say?
The Switch Horizon OS has a safety feature not to boot if something is wrong with the battery readings.
If you see all zeros then you might have damaged the data line(s) for the battery management IC or knocked off a resistor (near the metal shield edges).

Try bypassing the mod chip by turning it fully off then while both the volume + and - are down, turn it on. This bypasses the modchip, thus ruling out the switch itself

can you also provide which switch firmware you are using and atmosphere version?

I think your sysnand may have been updated. And there is no atmosphere for new update. Update the HATS pack and your emunand should run fine at least. Your emunand probably freezes when its in sleep mode. Updating to new hats pack should fix that but will have to wait for new atmosphere update for your sysnand to match the same version
