Switch 2 or oled?

hi guys, sorry if im in the wrong section here, but im stuck, i have a oled that i have yet to modchip. the thing is that my daughter is geting the wifes v1 switch not modded,
wife will get an oled or have mine,

Should i get another oled for my wife, (she dose not want a modded switch)
and modchip my oled.
Or buy a Switch 2 and hope there will be cfw for it at some point?

If youd buy the Switch 2 in hope for it to be moddable, dont buy it and get an OLED.
Switch 2 > Oled, but it probably wont be moddable for the forseeable future

yeah i suppose thats true.i did look into whats going on and there is not much at the moment, i just needed to decide before tomorrow lol

I prefer the OLED for portable use and the Switch 2 for docked. Obviously, if modding is a priority then forget the Switch 2 exists for now.

If modding is a priority, then get an OLED, not like you can mod a switch 2 at the moment.

i went and hot the switch 2 its coming tomorrow, i mean, yeah it would be cool to have a modded switch but i might as well enjoy the s2 and if/when it gets cfw i can decide then i guess

And you get to experiment how SW1 games intermingle with their SW2 upgraded versions, assuming you have enough legit copies for the fam of whatever it is.

If being a thief and stealing all your games is your priority, get the OLED. If you have an ounce of integrity, get the Switch 2.

People are saying that OLED is better if you like hacking and homebrew...

While that's true, the key point is still left out - there's no softmod for OLED units. The only thing that exists is a hardmod - while the parts are somewhat inexpensive now, it sure as fuck isn't easy to successfully install. Out of all the possible Switch 1 variations, an OLED is the hardest one to mod.

So my recommendation would be this:
- Do you like playing the absolute newest games and don't care for homebrew? Get a Switch 2.
- Are you very experienced in soldering and disassembling delicate electronics, or know someone who is? Get a Switch OLED.
- Do you care for homebrew but would rather not fiddle with console internals? Get an unpatched Erista Switch.

If you opt for option #3, I would also get a jig with it -- while you can get it to work just with a paperclip bent the right way, a proper jig is the faster and safer option.

so i got the switch 2 in the end, im liking it tbh the bigger screen and the joycons are loads better, i figured i could allways get another oled to put cfw on if i wanted to, but atm our house now has a v2 switch, oled, and s2,

i also have a "decent" ish pc, and a steam deck,
i mean i have emulated games before both on phone/pc/steamdeck but tbh its just not the same

I was just about to reply good choice why on earth you would want to choose an Oled over a Switch 2 especially as Oleds are now going durt cheap on eBay

thats my thought, i can just get an oled pre modded, saves me a job lol, the perfomance is silly compaired to the v1/oled
