SvSIP version 6 released
Use your DS as a phone
Samuel Vinson has just released his latest build of SvSIP, famous homebrew application for NDS that lets you use your DS as a phone using the SIP protocol. And for those who didn't know: yes, you can place and receive real phone calls (including mobile phones) with SvSIP. All you need is an SIP account!

Here's the change log in this version, which I've translated from french:
SvSIP v6 @ change log said:
Change log:

- now comes with a wifi config utility (.nds) which you need to run once before you use SvSIP

- improved wifi support

- the DS will now ring when a call is received

- press A to call or answer a call, B to hang up or receive a call, start+select to restart, A+B+X+Y to turn off your DS

First i thought: Woah, nice. Phone via DS. Weird crazy fucking great shit.

The second thought: Hmmm, why would i use my DS to phone someone? Mobiles aren't that rare these days

hi i try to understand how this works.. we(my parents and me) have a kpn ipb(internetplusphone) experiabox (which has VoIP??) ( so it has sip support then?) do i need the existing info from our account to -let's say- log in/install/run this program? i found some examples how it should work on the site who made this, so i want to know more about
wink.gif
and another question, when seeing how you install it on your ds, can you keep this only on your card or would you also be able to have/run other programs/games on the card too with it? greets!!

why would you want to have your DS turned on 24/7 to receive a call ?

Because, I can see us holding hands
walking on the beach our toes in the sand
I can see us in the country side
sitting in the grass laying side by side
You can be my baby
Gonna make you my lady
Girl you amaze me
Ain't gotta do nothin crazy
See all I want you to do is be my love

My love
My love

are there any free SIP services? I think it would be kind of cool to use this. To bad Skype isn't SIP...

Get your VoIP-In phone number now!

With VoipBuster, you can get your own, regular phone number - for only 1 EURO. So if your friends want to call you by dialing a regular number, you can still receive the call via VoipBuster. No matter where you are.

Phone numbers are available for various countries. To check if there's a phone number available for you, login to your account page. We're continuously working on having more numbers available in more countries around the world, so visit this site often, or subscribe to our free newsletter!

anyone know any sip providers that have this for free? most only have a 60min trial then you have to pay.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

@SylverReZ, i think they have been doing that since late 2000s

Either that or their old games were unfinished aswell but we can't notice it

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
