Supergiant Games is a pretty big name in indie gaming. Their smash hit Bastion gained widespread recognition and, personally, is one of my favorite games of all time. It was a great example of how games have become more than toys, showing just how important art, music, and storytelling are to gaming. Its been two years since Bastion, and now Supergiant Games is back with their new game, Transistor.
For a brief story synopsis, players take the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a group of assailants try to kill her with it. She must then uncover the secret of the weapon as she fights from street to street. The game looks to play quite a bit like Bastion, with an isometric ARPG type of gameplay, although there's definitely some differences.
The game is made by the same team as Bastion, including the return of Darren Korb who made the fantastic soundtrack of Bastion. You may also notice the lovely voice of Ashley Barrett returning, who voiced (and sung) as Zia from Bastion.
The game is scheduled for an "early 2014 release" but will be playable at PAX East, which is coming soon to Boston.
