Supergiant Games is a pretty big name in indie gaming. Their smash hit Bastion gained widespread recognition and, personally, is one of my favorite games of all time. It was a great example of how games have become more than toys, showing just how important art, music, and storytelling are to gaming. Its been two years since Bastion, and now Supergiant Games is back with their new game, Transistor.
For a brief story synopsis, players take the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a group of assailants try to kill her with it. She must then uncover the secret of the weapon as she fights from street to street. The game looks to play quite a bit like Bastion, with an isometric ARPG type of gameplay, although there's definitely some differences.
The game is made by the same team as Bastion, including the return of Darren Korb who made the fantastic soundtrack of Bastion. You may also notice the lovely voice of Ashley Barrett returning, who voiced (and sung) as Zia from Bastion.
The game is scheduled for an "early 2014 release" but will be playable at PAX East, which is coming soon to Boston.

Bastion was too pretentious for my liking, this looks to follow the same wank. I'll give it a try though.

Also that music is dreadful.

How can ANYONE dislike something that has anything to do with this?!

I do confess I'm a little scared they put too much "Bastion" into this... Tho I wouldn't hate it, I wouldn't like either a copycat.

Personally I don't care if it plays like Bastion, Bastion had serviceable gameplay but that's not why I enjoyed it. It was the story, music, and environment. Considering this will probably be entirely different in those terms, I expect it to be a whole new beast.

Also please have Logan Cunningham return to do a prominent voice over, Rucks is by far one of the best voiceovers ever.

I thought the music in Bastion was some of the best in gaming. Very few video game soundtracks ever get a listen outside of the game from me. Not that I don't like them, I just don't enjoy them outside of the context of the game. Bastion gets frequent play from me.

To believe it was basically recorded in some guy's closet. Like you see these huge orchestras doing triple-A game music and they don't even touch what Bastion captured in terms of its soundtrack.

I registered to say the walking animation is the crappiest and most annoying I have ever seen. That alone would be a reason for me not to play the game.

wuut...and I used to think Hadrian was the sensible one and Guild was the troll/fanboy (although I guess that didn't really apply to PC/consoles).

Maybe this news thread is already in the past, but why did you find it too pretentious? And I have to agree with Guild that Bastion's music was some of the best there was in any game, inside and out of it. And Transistor looks to have more great music to me just from this trailer, but guess that is a matter of opinion. Not to mention it is an amazing trailer compared to bigger titles, but that might just be normal for smaller titles. I may be biased, but Hell, even a friend thought the music/trailer was great even though he never got around to playing Bastion.

And to be put off from the entire game just from the running animation seen in a trailer and not actually playing it is pretty ridiculous to me. They have announced this for 2014 though, so expect some changes.
